Bonnie June Danner, 82, Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at St Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Bonnie was born December 18, 1930, in Graham, Missouri to Byron and Zelma Faye (Hill) Estes.

A graduate of Maryville High School, Bonnie attended Northwest Missouri State University for two years. Bonnie was a homemaker and a member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.

She married James Monroe Danner, Jr on December 24, 1949, in Maryville, Missouri.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband James Danner (October 10, 1994), son Jay Scott Danner (September 20, 2008), sisters Betty Zapf, Thelma Kissinger, Dorothy Estes, and brothers Vern and Donald Estes.

Martha Rowlene Dawson, 95 of Burlington Junction, Missouri died on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Parkdale Manor Care Center with her family at her side.

Martha was born February 22, 1917 in Quitman, Missouri the daughter of Ernest Fleet and Blanche (Job) Shelton.

Martha was a graduate of Quitman High School. She attended cosmetology school before working as a beautician prior to her marriage. Martha was a member of the Clearmont Christian Church and a member of the Rosanna Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

Martha was united in marriage to Elmer Francis Dawson, July 15, 1941 in Maryville, Missouri. Elmer preceded her in death on August 8, 1991. Her son Francis Nelson Dawson also preceded her death. Others preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers Truman, Bill and Edward Shelton; and a twin sister Georgia Headrick.

Surviving are two sons, Larry (Janice) Dawson, Burlington Junction, MO., Kurby (Barb) Dawson, Kansas City MO., a daughter Sandra Kay (Phil) Little St. Joseph, MO., five grand children and twelve great grandchildren, two sister-in-laws Beverly Shelton, Independence, MO. and Charlene Green, Costa Mesa, CA., several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, friend and caregiver Fern Yoder.

There will be a visitation at 10 am Wednesday at Price Funeral Home prior to the funeral service at 11am.

Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery Maryville, MO

Decker, Gerald E. "Jerry"

Mr. Gerald E. (Jerry) Decker, 83, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013, at the North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, MO.

Jerry was born in Milwaukee, WI, on October 17, 1929, to Frank and Geraldine Hagen. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his wife, Ellouise "Tote" Decker, in 2012; and a grandson, Brian Lyle in 1993.

Jerry worked in construction most all his life. He also owned and operated the Maryville Service Center, Maryville, MO, for many years. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge #760, and the James Edward Gray American Legion Post #100, all of Maryville. Jerry helped with many military honor details for veterans in the area.

Jerry proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army. He was honorably discharged in July of 1951. He then moved to Maryville.

On April 17, 1951, Jerry was united in marriage to M. Ellouise Roney, in Maryville, MO. To this union 5 children were born. Diane Decker, Maryville, MO, Pam Lyle, Mission KS, Kurby Decker, Richmond, TX, Ron and wife, Jocelyn (Yien) Decker, Maryville, MO, and Greg Decker, Parkville, MO; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, the burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, both of Maryville, MO

Derks, Pauline Mary Meyer - Pauline Mary (Meyer) Derks, 94, formerly of Maryville, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Mable Rose Assisted Living Facility in Papillion, Nebraska.

She was born June 22, 1919 near Clyde, Missouri, the daughter of Albert N. and Mary Agnes (Lager) Meyer. Pauline married Vincent Derks in November, 1945 and began their 67-year marriage. 

She attended St Benedict’s School in Clyde, Missouri, Mt St Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas, and graduated from Northwest Missouri University in Maryville. She taught seven years before and during WWII in rural schools in Missouri and thirty years at St Gregory’s in Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Sr. Alfreda Meyer FSM and brothers: Fr. Alfred Meyer OSB, August Meyer, Lawrence Meyer, Joseph Meyer, Leo Meyer, Alfred Meyer, Fred Meyer, Philip Meyer, and Vincent Meyer.

Survivors include her husband: Vincent Derks, formerly of Maryville; her son: Paul (Becky) Derks, Bellevue, Nebraska; her daughters:  Connie (Roger) Stucki, Kansas City, Missouri, and Jo Beth (Danny) Betts, Waynesville, Missouri; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother and sisters-in-law: Norbert and Lois Meyer, Iowa City, Iowa;  Mary Ann Meyer, Stanberry, Missouri, Mary Walter, St Joseph, Missouri, Esther Schmidt, Roswell, Georgia; brothers-in-law: John Derks, Chandler, Arizona, and Donald (Marilyn) Derks, Hobson, Montana and many, many nieces and nephews.

Jessie Lou Diggs, 89, Skidmore, Missouri died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Golden Living Care, Maryville, Missouri.

Lou was born, August 10, 1923 in Skidmore, Missouri and was the daughter of Myron and Jessie Mildred Dawson Newton.

She attended Skidmore High School , was a cook at Nodaway Holt Schools for 20 years, owned and operated Lou's Diner for 21 years in Skidmore, and was a member of the Skidmore Christian Church.

On August 19, 1939, Lou married Fred Lester Diggs, in Wathena, Kansas who preceded her in death April 22, 1977.

Mrs. Diggs was preceded in death by daughter Anita Brown, sisters Judy Flynn, Leona Newton, Beth Bonner and Dixie Lea Collin, and brothers Homer, Fred, Zeke, Jerry, Myron, George, and Hooker Newton.

She is survived by a special son-in-law Don Brown, sons Gary Diggs, Walker, Missouri,Terry Diggs, Skidmore, Bradley Diggs, Chillicothe, MO, daughter Linda Fairchild, Chillicothe, sisters Mary Alice Johnson, Skidmore, Inez Boyer, St. Joseph, and 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

A graveside service and burial will be held 11 AM, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore.

Phyllis Irene Diggs was born November 29, 1913, in Taylor County, Iowa, the daughter of Tracy Livingston Pershing and Blanche (Portlock) Pershing. She grew up on the farm, living in Page, Taylor and Montgomery counties attending rural schools. Phyllis was a graduate of Villisca High School. She was set up on a date with Hildred Diggs; the relationship continued and they were married on October 22, 1931.To this union a daughter, Wylene was born.

Hildred was a farm hand and the family moved around southwest Iowa and Northwest Missouri and later bought 80 acres west of New Market. They farmed and raised hogs for over fifteen years. They sold the farm and moved to Bedford where they lived until Hildred passed away in 1991. Phyllis later moved to Hopkins to be near her daughter.

Phyllis was an expert seamstress, sewing clothes for herself and her daughter. She enjoyed working in her garden, canning and living off of the farm. Her family was very important to her and she had a special spot in her heart for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents; husband, Hildred Diggs; brother, Alvin Pershing; seven sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wylene Bix and husband Elvis of Hopkins, Missouri; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; fourteen great, great grandchildren; four step great granddaughters; two step great grandsons; two step great, great grandsons; nieces; nephews and many friends.

Downing, Alvin Dale - Alvin Dale Downing, 86, Maryville, Missouri, died Saturday, December 28, 2013, at St Francis Hospital in Maryville.

Alvin was born February 21, 1927, in Grant City, Missouri and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He had been employed by Martin Marietta and Nodaway County as a bulldozer operator.

On September 13, 1964, Alvin and Helen Emery Conz were married in Waterloo, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by wife Helen Downing, daughter Linda Force, brothers: Oakley, Wayne, Virgil, Cecil Downing, sisters: Ines Steinman, Vera Force, grandsons: Randy Force, Mike Wilmes and granddaughter Tammie Force.

Survivors include his children Sandy (Tim) Barmann, Tom (Lora) Downing, and Joe Downing all of Maryville; step-sons: Donnie (Linda) Conz, Boonville, Missouri, Steve (Kathy) Conz, Maryville, and Bobby and Jane Conz, Beatrice, Nebraska, 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Dreiling, Augustine - Fr. Augustine Dreiling OSB,, 81 of Conception Missouri died June 21, 2013 at St Stephen’s

Infirmary, Conception Abbey, Conception.

Fr. Augustine was born February 5, 1932 in Collyer, Kansas, the son of Peter and Clara (Bollig) Dreiling.   A graduate of Conception Seminary High School and School of Theology, Fr. Augustine professed as a Benedictine monk on September 3, 1953.  He was ordained a priest May 27, 1958.

Fr. Augustine was assigned to St Bernard Church, McLaughlin, South Dakota (1960-70); St Peter Church, Fort Yates, North Dakota (1970-75); St Aloysius Church, Kansas City, Missouri (1975-1980); St Columban church, Chillicothe, Missouri (1980-89);  St Paul Church, Tarkio, Missouri and St Benedict Church, Burlington Junction, Missouri (1990-93) and St. Columba Parish in Conception Junction 1993-2009).  He retired and returned to the Abbey in Conception at that time.

Fr. Augustine was preceded in death by his parents;

He is survived by his monastic community, three brothers: Eugene Dreiling,  Grinnell, Kansas; Robert Dreiling, Wakeeney, Kansas and James Dreiling, Kensington, Kansas; two sisters: Rose Marie Hoerman, Manhattan, Kansas and Sr. Rose Dreiling, CSJ, Concordia, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation begins at 7 pm Sunday, June 23, 2013 with Vespers of the Dead at 7:15 pm in the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Conception, Missouri.

Mary Frances Drydale 87, of Bolckow, MO, passed from this life on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at her home in Bolckow with her family at her side.

Mary was born near Skidmore, MO, on June 4, 1925, to Fred and Edna (Smith) Stephens. She had lived all of her life in the area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Ellis Stephens, Richard Stephens, and Frederick Stephens; and 2 sisters, Betty King, and Esther Pearson.

Mary retired from the Dietary Department at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, MO, and previously had owned and operated the Cattleman’s Restaurant at the Maryville Sale barn, and others restaurants in the area.

Her memberships included the Bethany Christian Church, Barnard, MO, and she was active and helped out with other Women’s organizations of the church. She was a leader of local 4-H Clubs, and other area Women’s Social Clubs.

Left to mourn her passing is her husband, Wayne L. Drydale, of the home in Bolckow. They were married on December 14, 1946 in St. Joseph, MO.

Other survivors include 2 sons, Roy “R.W.” (Tammy) Drydale, Bolckow, MO, and Gary L. (Roberta J.) Drydale, Bolckow, MO; daughter Shirley (Bill) McPike, Savannah, MO; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Phil) Burhoop, J.C. Watts, April (Tom) Budget, and Chris (Kim) Drydale; sister, Doris Collins, North Kansas City, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was born June 24, 1921, in Fillmore, Missouri to Charles Raymond and Mary Esther (Garrett) Wright.

A 1940 graduate of College High School, Maryville. Helen was a homemaker.

She married Robert "Dean" Duff on April 6, 1941, in Maryville, Missouri.

Helen was a member of the First Christian Church, James Edward Gray American Legion Auxilliary, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Sheltered Workshop Board, all of Maryville.

Preceding in death were her parents, husband Dean Duff (July 2, 1994), daughter Dorothy Belle Bryce, grandson Andrew Rohlfs, and brothers Roy and Charles Wright.

Shelly Dunn was born Dec. 29, 1961 to Kenneth VanFosson and Shirley (Teuscher) VanFosson in Clarinda and passed away Jan. 26 at her daughter's home in Agency, Missouri. Shelly was a 1980 graduate of West Nodaway High School in Burlington Junction, MO. She was united in marriage March 29, 1979 to Charles "Chuck" Dunn at her parents house near Elmo, MO. Shelly worked at Lisle Corporation in Clarinda for eighteen years and most recently had worked part-time as a CNA at Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda for the last several years. Shelly loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Shelly was preceded in death by her husband; Chuck Dunn, mother; Shirley VanFosson, mother-in-law; Sara Carmichael, father-in-law; Marvin Dunn, and a nephew; Jacob Marriott.

Espey, Leola Mildred Mounts - Leola Mildred Espey, 94, Maryville, Missouri, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville.

Leola was born April 25, 1919, in Maryville, Missouri to Herman and Mamie Ellen (Thompson) Mounts.

A 1937 graduate of Horace Mann High School, Maryville, Leola was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Maryville.

She married C. Durward Espey on November 26, 1948, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Preceding Leola in death were her parents, husband Durward (November 10, 1979) and a sister Marie Mounts (October 6, 1994).

Survivors include daughter Karyn (Bill) Roach and son Donald Thomas "Tom" (Sandy) Espey, Maryville, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2013, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, prior to the funeral service which will be 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville

Fannon, Bonnie Jean Cronk - Bonnie Jean Fannon, 71 of Savannah, Missouri died September 28, 2013, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Bonnie was born August 28, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Fred and Genevieve"Jenny" Hallen (May) Cronk.

She was a graduate of Maitland High School, class of 1960. Bonnie was a retired shipper for New England Business Systems, Maryville.

Bonnie was a member of First Christian Church, Maryville.

Preceding Bonnie in death were her parents, two nieces Rhonda and Brenda Cronk (1979) and one great nephew Ryan Paul Cronk (1979).

Surviving include daughter, Barbara Hicks, Eucha, Oklahoma, brother Roger and her twin brother Bill Cronk, both of Maryville, one sister, Darlene Christian, Savannah, Missouri, three grand children, Nikki, Jennifer and C.J., five great grandsons, Colton, Alex, Isaiah, Xavier, and Emre, neices and nephews.

Ms Fannon's body has been cremated. The family will recieve friends from 3-7 PM, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville, Missouri. 

Interment will be at a later date in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Barnard, MO

Fannon, Donna Barnes -

Donna Barnes Fannon, 69, of Stanberry, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Golden Living Center, Maryville, MO.

Donna was born on September 10, 1943, in Albany, MO, and lived all her life in the area. Her parents were Boyd and Hazel (Lee) Barnes.

Donna attended Albany schools and later obtained her G.E.D. She worked at the former Stanberry Manufacturing Company, then at Bendix Corp. in Kansas City, MO, and retired in 1980 from Eveready Battery, Maryville, MO. She also helped with the family dairy for over 30 years.

She was a member and attended the R.L.D.S. Church, formerly of Bedison, MO. She was an avid reader and made many afghans through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister Crystal Parman.

On October 9, 1958, in Albany, MO, Donna was united in marriage to Forrest E. Fannon, he survives on the home. She is also survived by her daughter, Deborah (Steve) Piper, Ravenwood, MO; her son, Daniel (Shirley) Fannon, Stanberry, MO; 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Donna will be buried at the Swinford Cemetery, Arkoe, MO. No formal services or visitation is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO

Felton, John Horace - John Horace Felton, 67, St. Joseph, Missouri, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at Abbey Woods Living and Rehab Center in St. Joseph.

John was born April 28, 1946, in Maryville, Missouri to Austin Gregory and Eva Margaret (Frank) Felton. He was a graduate of Maryville R-II High School.

John married Michelle Ninneman October 16, 1991, in Van Buren, Missouri.

John was a member of the First Christian Church, Maryville.

John had many friends from all walks of life. He never met or knew a stranger. His loving wife Michelle remained by his side until he passed. He was my best friend, husband and soul mate. Joe Duck will be deeply missed. He will forever be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank Felton.

Survivors include his wife Michelle Felton of the home in St. Joseph, two children, Will Frank Zachery Felton, Atchison, Kansas and Jason Travis Felton, Superior, Colorado, step-son, David Patrick Anderson, Campbell, California, four grandchildren, sister, Mary Margaret (Keith) Byergo, Warrenton, Virginia, sister-in-law, Lynn Felton, Maryville, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Fidler, Betty Joan Richardson - Betty Joan Fidler, 77, Breckenridge, Missouri, formerly of Maryville, Missouri passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Hillcrest Manor. Hamilton, Missouri.

She was born December 8, 1935 in Worth, Missouri to John Elmer and Cora Elizabeth Yates Richardson.

Betty married Denzel Donald Fidler April 24, 1955, in Parnell. Missouri.

A foster mother of 65, and a homemaker, Betty was a member of the Curry, Richardson, Sparks, Waldeier Post #528 American Legion Auxiliary, Parnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Denzel Fidler (April 25, 1995), three infant sons David, Donnie and Ronnie Fidler and great-grandson, Hunter Fidler; five brothers Harold, Junior, Calvin, Alvin and Paul Richardson; seven sisters Wilma and Opal Richardson, Dorothy Ross, Marie McKee, Ruth Dugdale, Geneva Gladman and Helen Tucker.

Survivors are two sons Leroy Fidler, Mobile, Alabama and Dannie Fidler, St. Joseph, Missouri, her daughter Diane (Tom) Pittman, Breckenridge, Missouri; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters Alta Adams, Hopkins, Missouri, Barbara Gladman, Riverton, Wyoming and Patty Brown, Clarinda, Iowa; two foster sons raised in the home: Robert Campbell and Dennis Neukam and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23rd, from 6:00-7:00 pm at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Dale Stanton Florea, 89, of Maryville, MO, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2013 following a lengthy illness.

Dale was born on April 6, 1924, in Nodaway County, near Pickering, MO, to Delbert and Alma (Massie) Florea. He worked in construction and was a licensed electrician and plumber. He was employed by the City of Maryville, MO, as the building inspector until he retired. He volunteered for several years with the Maryville Fire Department and as a volunteer for Nodaway County Ambulance in the early 1970’s.

In WW II, Dale proudly served his country in the US Army. He was wounded in combat and still carried shrapnel in his body. He received 2 purple hearts for his wounds.

On April 6, 1947, Dale was united in marriage with Darlene Howard, she preceded him in death in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Dale Florea, in 1994; his granddaughter, Tara Florea in 1988; his great granddaughter, Elli Reed in 2008; his brothers, Howard and Milo Florea; and sister, Wilma Morgan.

His memberships included the Nodaway Masonic Lodge #470, AF & AM, and the James Edward Gray, American Legion Post 100, both of Maryville, MO.

He is survived by his children, Linda (Gary) Grasty, Clarinda, IA, Nancy (Eldon) Lewis, Maryville, MO, Shirley (David) Reed, Burlington Junction, MO, and Bill (Kim) Florea, Maryville, MO. His is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Florea has been cremated and his memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 14, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Long Branch Cemetery, Gaynor, MO.

Foster, Derald "Bud" Eugene - Derald "Bud" Eugene Foster, 84, Graham, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at his home.

Bud was born March 18, 1929, in Chillicothe, Missouri to the late Ephram Hardin and Sara Kathryn (Moore) Foster.

He married Eldora F. (Cox) Foster on August 09, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death December 1, 1973.

He served as a paratrooper in the United States Army from1946 to 1950 during World War II.

Bud was a construction and iron worker for over 30 years, a member of the Labor Local 579, St. Joseph, Tribe of Mic-O-Say, Boy Scouts of America. As a young man he worked for 17 years on the Missouri River as a tugboat deck hand.

Bud is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services will be 2 PM, Monday, March 25 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Parnell, Missouri. The funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 1:15 PM.

Bernard Charles Frueh, 77, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013, at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.

Bernard was born on September 9, 1936, in Maryville to Leonard J. and Lucy Josephine (Walk) Frueh. He resided in Maryville most all his life and had spent 7 years in St. Joseph, MO.

He attended St. Mary’s School and the Maryville High School. He later received his G.E.D. in 1984.

Bernard had been a bricklayer with several local companies over the years, and had also been a farmer. He retired in 1996. He was a member of the St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville. He was a former member of the Bricklayer’s Union, St. Joseph, MO, the Maryville Elks Lodge #760, and the Eagles Lodge, both of Maryville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Brenda K. Frueh in 1958, and his siblings, Evelyn (Frueh) O’Riley, Teresa Frueh, and Josephine Frueh, both in infancy, Howard Frueh, Lester Frueh, Berniece (Frueh) Schooler, Irene (Frueh) Meyer, Maxine (Frueh) Byrd Ambrose, Richard Frueh, Rose Ann (Frueh) Welch, Catherine (Frueh) Ransdell, and Eugene Frueh,

On December 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Margaret Joyce McGinness, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Maryville. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Teresa Frueh (Rick Rhodes), Mulberry, FL, Gregory J. (Diana) Frueh, Hopkins, MO, Lisa A. (Rick) Filley, Skidmore, MO, Melanie (Don) McClurg, Maryville, MO, Charles L (Tina) Frueh, Conception Junction, MO, Dale J. (and companion Shandalen Gross) Frueh, Agency, MO; 10 grandchildren, Joseph, Charlie and David Blocher, Sara and Samantha Frueh, Amberle and Kirby Filley, Joseph McClurg, Amanda and William Frueh, and Alyssa Rudd; 1 brother, Raymond (Rose) Frueh, Pickering, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Gaa, Jeannine L. Snodderley

Jeannine L. Gaa, 63, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at her home in Maryville.

Jeannine was born on September 27, 1950, in Elmo, MO, to Darrell D. and Ruth Anna (Hamilton) Snodderley. She had resided in Maryville since 1976, and had been a former resident of Clearmont, MO, and spent a short time in the St. Louis, MO area.

She graduated from West Nodaway High School in Burlington Junction, MO, the class of 1968. She had received her B.S. in Vocational Home Economics from Northwest Missouri State University in 1972. Jeannine taught school at Cross Middle School, at Ferguson-Florissant School District, St. Louis, MO. She later has been the Director of Career Services at NWMSU for 19 years, and owned and operated Gaa Rentals in Maryville for many years.

Jeannine was a member and attended the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. She was a member of the Elmo American Legion Auxiliary, Elmo, MO.

On December 9, 1979, Jeannine was united in marriage to Charles A. Gaa, in Las Vegas, NV. Charley passed away on January 23, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Darrell D. Snodderley, in 2000; and by a nephew, John Midkiff, also in 2000.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Jeremy A. Gaa, Maryville, MO, Emily R. Gaa, Osceola, IA, and Stephanie S. Gamble, Emma Lawson - Emma Gamble, 86 of King City, Missouri, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, died December 24, 2013, at King City Manor.

Emma was born March 24, 1927 in Quitman, Missouri, daughter of the late Jessie James and Audrey Delia Royer Lawson. She was married to Robert James Gamble on August 3, 1946, in Hiawatha, Kansas.

She was employed by the Campbell Soup Company as a machinist for over 30 years before her retirement.

Emma was of the Roman Catholic Faith.

Preceding her in death were her husband, six sisters, Mable Kranitz, Velma Andrew, Thelma Abrams, Amelia Lawson, Dolores Lawson, Sarah Pitts and Mary Babb; four brothers, Elbert, Cecil, Ray and Clifford Lawson.

Surviving are sons, James (Joyce) Leon Gamble and Gerald Lee Gamble both of Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. Father Karl Barmann, OSB will be officiating. Interment will be in Quitman Cemetery, Quitman, MO.

Giesken, Donald Edmond - Donald Edmond Giesken, 83, Maryville, formerly of Parnell, Missouri, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Donald was born June 28, 1929, in Parnell, Missouri to Frank and Celia Milligan Giesken.

A 1947 graduate of Parnell High School, he was a heavy equipment operator.

Don married his first wife, Marcella Spoonemore, July 8, 1950 in Parnell. She preceded him in death April 18, 1996.

On October 14, 2000, Don married Beverly Florea Carmichael in Parnell.

Donald was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, and also served on the Parnell Housing Board and Parnell City Council for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, first wife, Marcella, sisters:

Frowina Flatten and Rita, Clara, and Edna Giesken, brothers: Vincent and Gerald Giesken and step-grandson, Bryan Allen.

Don is survived by his wife, Beverly Giesken of the home in Maryville, three sons: David (Marta) Giesken, Ravenwood, Missouri, Frederick (Karen) Giesken, Parnell, Missouri and Gregory (Karen) Giesken, Maryville, Missouri, step-children: Bruce (Leanne) Carmichael and Kim (Terri) Carmichael, both of Maryville and Vicki Clack, Augusta, Georgia, twenty grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren

Gladman, Thelma Weigart - Thelma Gladman was born near Grant City, Missouri on January 1, 1916, the daughter of Owen and Martha J. (Sowards) Weigart. She attended school in Worth County.  

Thelma married Edward Glee Gladman on September 16, 1931, and they became parents of 12 children. She was an excellent homemaker, mother and grand-mother.  

Thelma passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at a Mound City care center at the age of 97. 

She was preceded by her parents; her husband; sons, LaVerne and Marvin Gladman; daughters, Leta Emrich, Betty Steinman and infant Mary Gladman; brothers, Dale and Harold Weigart; and sisters, June Daugherty, Helen Evans and Mabel McDonald. 

Survivors include her sons, Carroll (Charlene) Gladman of Hopkins, Missouri, Melvin (Sandra) Gladman of Mound City, Ronald (Danute’) Gladman of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Dennis (Tina) Gladman of Skidmore, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Barbara Gladman of Riverton, Wyoming; daughters, Vera Lawson of Olathe, Kansas, Sheri Mackey of Hiawatha, Kansas, and Beverly (Mike) George of Oregon, Missouri; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City.  Interment was held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at  3:00 pm at the Isadora Cemetery in Isadora, Missouri (near Grant City).

Godsey, A. Lucille Smith - A. Lucille (Smith) Godsey, 95, Skidmore, MO went to join her Lord and Savior and beloved husband of 43 years on March 19, 2013 at the home of her daughter after a brief illness.

Lucille was born June 21, 1917 near Fairfax, MO to Almar B. and Carrie D.

(Ruddell) Smith. She had one older brother and a younger sister both deceased. Lucille married Elbert H. Godsey on April 5, 1941 in Omaha, NE. Elbert preceded her in death on August 3, 1984. Four daughters were born of this union.

Lucille lived most of her youth in rural Atchison County near Fairfax. At the young age of fourteen she began driving four head of mules doing field work for her father and neighbors when her older brother was called to serve in World War II. She was a graduate of Daleview High School located in Atchison County Missouri in 1935. Her class was the 17th class to graduate from Daleview, there were 17 in her class and they graduated on the 17th day of May (facts Lucille proudly shared). Lucille attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville, MO for 2 years then taught in one-room schoolhouses in Atchison County until her marriage.

As a couple Lucille and Elbert enjoyed square dancing and pattern ballroom dancing for many years. She was an avid reader, owning many volumes of paperback books. Lucille was a 4-H leader for many years teaching cooking and sewing. She was a member of Skidmore United Methodist Church and the Skidmore Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron and several other offices. She was an original member of the Merry Moments Bridge Club, playing bridge with the club for the last time on January 18, 2013.

She was an outstanding cook and seamstress. Many in the community and county enjoyed her homemade donuts and cinnamon rolls. She was known as the "Bread Lady" to youth of the Skidmore United Methodist Church as she always made bread and home-churned butter for Bible School. Having 4 daughters she kept busy making all their clothes and the doll clothes. Lucille created many beautiful square dance dresses and evening wear for the dancing she and Elbert did. She enjoyed all kinds of handwork. In the later years knitting and crocheting seemed to be her favorites. Many lucky individuals were the recipients of her hand-made items.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Lester B. Smith, Rock Port, MO and sister, Jeanne I. Woerpel, state of CA.

Surviving are daughters Nora (George) Bayless, St. Joseph, MO, RoAnne (Jerry) Solheim, Maryville, MO, Phyllis (Larry) Cole, Union Star, MO, and Karol Godsey, Omaha, NE. Goodspeed, Alan Marshall - Alan Marshall Goodspeed, 65, Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at his home in Maryville.

Alan was born June 23, 1948, in Columbia, Missouri to Arthur Thomas and Martha Gertrude Mumford Goodspeed.

Alan and Delma Jean Nickerson were married June 7, 1969, in Maryville.

A 1966 graduate of Maryville R-II High School, he was a farmer. Alan was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on the Boards of Consumer Oil Company, United Producers and Soil and Water Conservation.

He was preceded in death by his mother Martha Goodspeed (December 17, 1989) and brother Ronald Goodspeed (June 22, 1983).

Alan is survived by his wife Delma Goodspeed, of the home in Maryville, son Will Goodspeed, Maryville; father Arthur Goodspeed, Maryville; brother Richard (Wanda) Goodspeed; two sisters: Carol (Jerry) Protzman and Karen (Denny) Dakan, all of Maryville; sister-in-law Fran Cupples, Fullerton, Nebraska, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Goodspeed has been cremated.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Gray, Faye Beatrice Reed - Faye Beatrice Gray, 88, Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Maryville.

Faye was born August 15, 1925, in Clearmont, Missouri to Thomas F. and Eunice A. (Anderson) Reed. She spent most of her life at Clearmont where she made her home until moving to Maryville in 2001.

She was a 1943 graduate of Clearmont High School and a homemaker.

Faye married Charles Everett Gray on December 15, 1945, in Troy, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2005.

Also preceding her in death were a brother Harold Reed and two sisters Ferne Gray and Helen Hockman.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Jones and husband Larry, Bedford, Iowa; Carolyn Roush and husband Leon, Maryville, Missouri; and three granddaughters Cindy Monticue, Torrance, California, Kelli (Dan) Rast, Grain Valley, Missouri, and Janese Robberts, Marion, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Hannah and Jayson Rast, Grain Valley, Missouri, Jaron and Janessa Robberts, Marion, Iowa and Nicholas Wong Torrance, California.

Visitation will be held 1-2 PM, Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Price Funeral Home Chapel with the service at 2 PM at the funeral home.

Gregory, Audrey Mary LaMaster

Audrey Mary (LaMaster) Gregory, 96, Guilford, MO, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Maryville, MO.

Audrey was born on a farm near Guilford, MO, on September 17, 1916. She was a homemaker and helped around the farm. She was a lover of music and had taught piano for many years.

On July 5, 1935, she was united in marriage to Leo Arthur Gregory in Albany, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Luther and Hannah Gertrude (Nelson) LaMaster; her husband of 75 years, Leo, in 2010; and 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Survivors include one son, Galen Gregory, Guilford, MO; two daughters, Rhonda Tobin, Guilford, MO, and Carolee Nelson, Ravenwood, MO; 4 grandchildren, Denise Wallace, Kevin Wallace, Scott Tobin, Shawn Tobin; and 1 great grandchild, Danielle Manning.

No formal services or visitation are planned. The burial has taken place at the Weathermon Cemetery, Guilford, MO.

Gregory, Helen A. Crouch - Helen A. (Crouch) Gregory, 92, Jefferson City, formerly of Maryville, passed into eternal life Monday, February 4, 2013, at the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, MO.

She was born December 30, 1920, in King City, MO, the daughter of Ernest E. and Lottie A. (Wheatley) Crouch. Helen grew up on a farm near King City on Empire Prairie, where she also attended grade school. She graduated from King City High School in 1938. She also attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College and the University of Colorado, Boulder.

She was united in marriage on January 4, 1944, in Miami, FL, to James Robert Gregory, who preceded her in death on June 11, 2007. Helen and "Bob" were married 63 years.

Helen was mainly a homemaker but also worked as a school teacher at Columbia School, a one-room schoolhouse on Empire Prairie, in the plant protection department at North American Bomber Plant in Kansas City, during World War II, and in the Placement Office at Northwest Missouri State College.

A member of the First United Methodist Church in Maryville for over 50 years, Helen was active in the Deborah Circle and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Alumni Association, P.E.O Chapter L, Faculty Dames at NWMSU, and, as a coach’s wife, spent many, many hours sitting in basketball arenas and football stadiums. She and Bob enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and visiting their extended family. Helen also loved to play bridge with her longtime friends in Maryville.

Survivors include two daughters: Carol (Robert) Schmidt, Jefferson City and Judy (John) Hlawatsch, Lafayette, CO; three grandchildren: Allison (Brad) McCoy, Heather (Jeff) Agee, both of Tampa, FL, and Jennifer Hlawatsch, Lafayette, CO; and four great-grandchildren: Ethan and Blake McCoy and Tilden and Charlotte Agee, of Tampa.

She will be missed by all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who enjoyed listening to her many stories about growing up on a farm during The Great Depression.

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother, George Edward Crouch.
