A1: William Severs, born in Virginia in 1752, died in Nodaway Co., MO the 25 August 1852, married Catherine Peck, the 14 October 1793 in Montgomery Co., VA.

(Notes: William Severs, Sr. was born in Virginia according to the only family records to which we have access. We do feel that he was married at least twice, possibly more. He had one son that we have documented to date, John Severs, Sr. It is very likely that there were more sons and possibly daughters. William moved to the area now known as Anderson Co., TN around 1801. It would appear that he settled his family in an area known as Clinch River. It has been written that William was a blacksmith by trade and more than likely he farmed. Around 1850, William moved from TN to MO with his son John and John's family. At the time of the move, William was approximately 97 years old.)

(Notes: 1870 MO Census lists a 73 year old farmer born in VA with real estate valued at $2200 and personal property valued at $2500. Living with the Severs are two female children, Ellen, 9, and Sycena Ross, 7. Both born in IA and attended school.)

(Notes: Story related by a family member (Severe) says that when Bertha became ill a doctor was called. While attending her, Bertha told him she saw a person dressed in white. The doctor then told the family that she would not live. Bertha died the next day.)

E1.2.2.5.2: Gertrude Alice Severs, born in Unadilla, NE the 16 April 1883, died in Palmyra, NE the 26 March 1907, married Harry L. Severe, the 14 September 1904.

(Notes: According to phone conversation with H.L.Severe (son of Harry L.), she died of a ruptured appendix. She is buried in the Rosewood Cemetery, Palmyra, NE. She and her sister, Myrtle, were married in a double ceremony at the home of their parents.)

(Notes: Hugh and his wife Julia had an infant son that died on September 5, 1860. Julia's birth date is in doubt; probably born in 1839, not 1849 as listed on some of the records we've found, or the account of the death of the child is the wrong date. 1870 MO Census lists a "Henry" M. Severs with wife, Julia. Also living with this family is a Sarah Wade, 22, born in MO and an Alexander Him, 16, born in Kansas. 1880 MO Census lists Hugh M. Severs as a widow living with his sister and his two children. He is also listed as being "maimed, crippled, bedridden, or otherwise disabled. Resided in Nodaway Co., MO from age 12, except for 2-3 years when he was engaged in freighting across the plains.)
