Allyn, Austin, born Ohio; died Independence twp. ND 19 Apr 1871 : Death of Mr Austin Allyn.--Gen. A. C. Voris today received a dispatch announcing the death of his brother in law, Mr Austin Allyn, at Lutzton, Missouri, on Monday evening. Mr Allyn was a son of Mr Israel Allyn, of Coventry, a brother of Mrs Voris, his wife also being a sister of Mr Voris. Some six weeks ince, in breaking a colt, Mr Allyn received an injury of the spine, which has thus, in spite of the very best available medical skill, terminated fatally. Mr Allyn has resided in Missouri fourteen years and was one of the most enterprising and successful farmers of the section in which he resided. A wife and six daughters, are, with his aged father and other relatives here, left to mourn his death. His age was 43 years. THE SUMMIT COUNTY BEACON, Akron, Ohio, Wed, Apr 19, 1871 page 3

Death of Austin Allyn -- We learn from John Ham, that our old friend Austin Allyn, of Independence Township, departed this life on the 15th day of April 1871. Mr Allyn had a large circle of acquaintances in the county, who will be pained to hear of his untimely death. His family has our sympathy in their affliction. His death it is presumed, was caused by injuries received while riding a young horse. WEEKLY DEMOCRAT-FORUM AND MARYVILLE TRIBUNE, Maryville, Missouri, Tue, Apr 18, 1871 page 3

Alvis - Alves, George, of Lincoln twp, died, c75year. ND 17 Feb 1898

Alvis, George, an old Confederate soldier in Lincoln township, aged 70 yr, died. WEEKLY DEMOCRAT-FORUM AND MARYVILLE TRIBUNE, Maryville, Missouri, Jan 12, 1899 page 4 : George Alvis, of Lincoln township, aged 69 years, died on the 11th of this month, and was buried at Possum Walk. His funeral was preached at Bethel last Sabbath, by Rev Randall. NODAWAY DEMOCRAT, Maryville, Missouri, Thur, Feb 24, 1898 page 5 :

At the same hour the funeral of George Alvis took place at the home of his daughter, Mrs Calfree, the nearest neighbor of the writer. He died of pnemonia fever, after ten days sickness, near the age of 70 years. He lived in here before the war and was in the Confederate army. His first wife died while he was there and let [left] two little children. Two children preceded her to the grave. The second wife of George Alvis was Miss Martha Horn. They raised quite a family [of] children, who were very young when their mother died out in Nebraska. After her remains had lain in the grave two weeks the Horn brothers went out there, had them exhumed and brought here and laid to rest in Lamar cemetery. They were accompanied by Mr Alvis and children. This has been their home ever since. The children have grown to manhood and womanhood, and most of them are married and have little ones of their own. George Alvis was converted at a revival meeting in the M.E. church South at North Grove some time ago. They wanted a South Methodist minister to officiate at his funeral, but Rev Bolen had to go, like the hearse, to Warren Spoors child's funeral. Rev Wade, the Baptist standby, had prayed at the house. Robert T. Lamar took the remains to Lamar cemetery in a two seated spring buggy. The procession was very long, though the roads were very muddy. Thus another old timer is gone.
