| 001Mr. Dunn passed away October 11, 2011 in Wooster, OH. Memorials services will be held Saturday, Nov 5, 2011 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Clarinda. More information will be available closer to service date. Mr. Dunn was born on May 15, 1924, in Clarinda, the son of William and Pearl (Black) Dunn. He married Eloise Freeland on Oct. 18, 1947, in Clarinda. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2011. He was a graduate of Clarinda High School in 1941, serving as president of his senior class. He sang in the chorus, glee club and boy's quartet in high school and participated in the first Iowa State Vocal Chorus in Des Moines. An avid golfer, he caddied as a youth at the Clarinda Country Club, usually walking at least 54 holes a day. He was the Clarinda Golf Club champion after high school and competed in the Iowa Masters Tournament at Iowa State University in Ames in 1942. Mr. Dunn graduated from Iowa State University in 1951 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the Pi Epsilon Chapter of Pi Tau Sigma, a national honorary mechanical engineering fraternity. He worked for Alcoa from 1951 to 1983. His career included several positions in die-casting and development work in aluminum packaging, including design of the first easy-open beer can end in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army as a private first class with the 103rd Infantry Division from February 1943 to May 1945. He was wounded in action in France in November 1944 and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wooster and helped deliver meals through Meals on Wheels. Surviving are three children, including Stephen (Cindy) of Keokuk, Jeffrey (Jamie) of Deer Park, Wash., and Kristine (Stan) Burris of Wooster; six grandchildren, Amanda (Kyle) Mahannah, Leslie Dunn, Sam Burris, Lucas Burris, Wilson Shepherd and Beck Shepherd; and one great-grandchild, Kaylee Mahannah. | 002Berniece Sophie Marie (Niebrugge) Steeve was born June 8, 1921 at Lone Elm, Missouri to Oscar and Emily (Rassmussen) Niebrugge. After attending school In Lone Elm, she met and married Arthur Steeve on February 14, 1942 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lone Elm. The couple moved to northwest of Clarinda and farmed. Berniece was active in gardening and caring for the animals. She was active in the quilting group, Country Garden Club and Friendly Farmers Wives, card clubs and LWML at the church. She cared for a number of people in their homes throughout her last years, along with opening her own home to younger ones when needed. Countless peoples’ lives were made better because of the care she gave while she could. During the last several months she had to leave the farm and resided at Westridge Quality Care & Rehab in Clarinda until she passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 at the age of 90. Berniece was preceded in death by her parents, husband Art in 1979, and brother Hillard Niebrugge in 1991. She is survived by children Norma Hughes and husband Charles of Clarinda, Iowa, and Ralph Steeve and wife Joyce of Clarinda, Iowa; sister-in-law Emily Niebrugge of Lone Elm, Missouri; grandchildren Terry Hughes and wife April, Denise McClish and husband Wes, Bradley Hughes and wife Wanda, Shawn Hughes and wife Kendra, and Rosanne Cavin and husband Zachary, all of Clarinda, Iowa; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Lawrence Boye officiating. Interment was at Immanuel Cemetery. | 003Marjorie Catherine (Brush) Henning, the daughter of Cloyd and Stella (Lavely) Brush, was born June 6, 1922 in Shenandoah, IA, and passed away October 18, 2011 in Sidney, IA. Growing up in the Northboro area Marjorie graduated from Northboro High School in 1940. On June 15, 1943 Marjorie was united in marriage to William T. Harms and to this union five children were born: four daughters, Nancy, Marcene, Joyce, and Ardith, and one son, Gary. Marjorie married Russell E. Henning on October 29, 1983 in the Coin Methodist Church and they lived together in Coin, IA . Marjorie was a homemaker on the farm and later worked for various Page County offices, the bank in Coin, and for 25 years was the City Clerk of Coin. She was a member and treasurer of the Coin Methodist Church and was involved with the Methodist Ladies Aide. She also participated in the Farm Bureau Women's Choir. Marjorie served on the election board for many years in Coin. Preceding Marjorie in death were her parents; brother, Lloyd Brush, and his wife, Florence; brother-in-law, James Henning; and sisters-in-law, Betty Gratton and Patricia Kruse. | 004Carolyn Ann (Dorl) Owen was born February 4, 1939 at Norwich, Iowa to Wilson C. and Beulah E. (Nelson) Dorl. The family moved to New Market when Carol was young. She graduated New Market High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Paul Owen in 1963 and they raised one son, Randy. Following their marriage they worked in Denver, CO, Independence, MO, Panama City, FL, Franklin, PA. In 1993 Carol retired due to health and she and Paul moved to LaGrange, GA. In 1999 they relocated to Shenandoah and operated The Days Inn until January 2007 when they retired and moved to Clarinda. She pursued her calling and became a Certified Lay Minister and served the Faith & Hope Circuit of the United Methodist Church. On Sunday morning, October 16, 2011 Carol was called home. She passed away at Methodist Hospital, Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Herbert and Alice (Lehman) Owen, sister-in-law Patricia Bothwell and husband Clinton, and great grandchild Gabriel Keith Stevens. | 005Garvin Eugene McMillin was born July 1, 1962 to Norman Dean McMillin and Anna May Harris McMillin. Garvin remained a lifelong resident of the Bedford area. Garvin graduated from Bedford Community High School in May, 1980. Garvin would say that his greatest accomplishments in life were his three children, blessings from above. Joshua was born in 1984, Kerri was born in 1987 and Kaitlyn was born in 1995. Garvin was a cabinet and furniture craftsman by trade - a God given skill. His work inspired one of his nephews to follow in his footsteps. Garvin's quality work spoke for itself and will be a remembrance of him for generations to come. Garvin had his ups and downs in life, but through it all he remained strong like his father, Mick. Both men felt deeply for their families, but sentimental words were hard for them to speak. He was looking forward to many happy years with all three of his children and of course his dog, Mick. Sadly, on October 14, 2011 God took him home, peacefully, in his sleep. Everyone had their own name for Garvin such as, Gar, Garvy, Gerber, Pugsley, Studly, bucko, boober, pookie and the list goes on! He would just laugh and say, "Ya, what you want?" Everyone knew him and everyone knew if you needed him, all you had to do was ask. His eyes sparkled and he could pull a smile or a laugh out of you, no matter how bad a situation looked. In fact, I can see Garvin and his dad sitting on a cloud as we speak here today. They are looking down on us laughing about one of their funniest memories. Garvin was a jokester from day one and he was the biggest, loving, teddy bear ever! Garvin had so many lifelong friends from grade school to junior high crushes to high school mischief makers! He kept those friends and before he knew it, the computer age was upon him. Some of his fondest memories were playing in pool tournaments and playing Texas Hold'em and other games on the computer with Ron Fleetwood and many others. The fun went on and on! They played these games on the weekends and when they finished Ron and Garvin would grill steaks. Simple pleasures, but second to God, they are what real honest life is built on. Garvin is survived by three children, Joshua, Kerri and Kaitlyn McMillin; his mother Anna May (Harris) McMillin, his brother, Gary "Duke" McMillin, two sisters, Glenda McMillin Wetzel and Gayle McMillin Smith, , two nephews, Eric Wetzel and Justin Smith, two nieces, Julie Smith and Kelli Wetzel, a great nephew Kyle Wetzel, a great niece Hailey Wetzel, many aunts, uncles and cousins along with countless friends. My dear father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, you will be sadly missed, eternally loved and cherished. | 006Francis “Frank” G. Pruitt was born January 29, 1941 in Maryville, Missouri to Gerald and Helen (Bishop) Pruitt. He was married to Maridee Alt on February 23, 1964 in Akron, Colorado. And to this union were born four children: Tori, Jeffery, Marc and Tiffany. Frank was employed as a truck driver and worked for various companies for over 30 years. He enjoyed his side mowing business and working outside. Frank passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents. Beatrice Evelyn Hensley was born October 14, 1909, in Taylor County, Iowa the daughter of Elmer E. Orme and Arria Bordner Orme. The majority of her life was spent in Taylor County. She graduated from Bedford High School with the Class of 1929. Beatrice taught rural school in Taylor County for 4 years, before being united in marriage to her classmate, Halbert Hensley in 1931. Beatrice was a humble woman, a good neighbor and friend to many. She enjoyed life on their farm for 38 years. She was a member of the Siam Methodist Church and taught Sunday school classes until the church closed in 1979. Then, with her husband Hal, the couple united with the United Methodist Church in Bedford. Beatrice moved from the family farm into Bedford in 1969. Bea was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, as well as being involved as a 4-H Leader, serving in neighborhood clubs, and quilting for the church and family. Beatrice was very proud of her children, grandchildren and both great and great-great-grandchildren! She was so very thoughtful that she lived to see them grow up in homes of their own. She was also thankful for the 64 years she shared with Hal working together on the farm and traveling all of the continental states along with many parts of Canada. Visitation were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Villisca Presbyterian Church. Funeral services follow, at 2:00 p.m., at the Church, with the Rev. Sandy Wainright-Rossander presiding. Burial at Snow Hill Cemetery in Coin, Iowa, will follow the service. She attended country school near Gravity until the family moved into the town of Gravity. She graduated from Gravity High School in 1941. She continued her education at Northwest Missouri State Teachers College and completed a teachers' certificate program. She taught in country schools in Taylor County, Iowa, both before and after her marriage to John B. Kemery on January 30, 1943. During the early years of their marriage, they lived in Bedford, Iowa, and their two children were born there. They moved their family to Villisca, Iowa, in 1952. Mrs. Kemery stopped teaching after World War II, and she worked as a homemaker while her children were young. She later worked at the Villisca Public Library for several years. While she was working at the Library, she accepted a part-time position with the Nodaway Valley National Bank in Villisca. Over the years, she became a full-time employee and rose through the ranks to become an officer and member of the board of the Bank. She retired from full-time employment when the Bank was sold to Citizens State Bank (now Bank Iowa) in 1989. Mrs. Kemery enjoyed life in the small-towns of Iowa. Long after her own children were grown, she followed the activities of her friends and their children in the community and the local schools for many years. They in turn looked after her, and she was able to remain in her own home until her health seriously deteriorated in 2008. In 2009, she moved to an independent retirement apartment near the homes of her children in St. Louis, Missouri, and she continued to live there until her death. Mrs. Kemery was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Kemery, Sr., her granddaughter, Rebecca Lynne Kemery, and her parents. She is survived by her son, J. Barton Kemery, Jr., (and his wife, Barbara) and her daughter, Barbara Kemery, both of St. Louis. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Kemery Sipes (Brian) of Denver,Colorado, Jennifer Kemery Couch (Gary) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Michael D. They moved to Clarinda in 1982. Charlotte spent her time being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed family vacations, traveling with Niehart's Travel, water exercise, crocheting, reading, sewing, knitting, making baby blankets and her time spent with her coffee group. Charlotte was an active member of the Pine Community Club, First Christian Church and active in the RSVP program, Chamber of Commerce, Glenn Miller Birthplace, Society, Page County Extension and Nodaway Valley Historical Society. Preceding Charlotte in death were her mother, Opal and stepfather, Jerry Wiseman; grandson, Robert Davison and great grandson, Bryston Davison. Donald Walter Scott, Jr. was born December 12, 1952 to Donald and Nellie (Sparks) Scott at Clarinda, Iowa. Donald attended Sharpsburg and Lenox Schools, graduating in 1971 from Lenox. While in high school he met his future wife, Kathryn Saunders. They were married August 5, 1972 at First Presbyterian Church in Lenox. During the first few years of their marriage, Donald worked in construction and the couple traveled throughout Iowa finally settling in his home town of Sharpsburg. Donald and Kathryn were happy to welcome to their family 3 children, Nicole, Deanne, and Donald III. When Donald left construction, he farmed the family farm for 5 years before deciding to attend Southwestern Community College and receiving an associate's degree in electronics technology. He spent 10 years working at Trolli Corp in Creston, IA in the maintenance department. When he left Trolli he started working as a private contractor doing electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling work for Schroeder Electrical and Plumbing in Creston, IA. This work was especially gratifying to Donald because he worked with his good friend Troy Schroeder. Donald always enjoyed spending time with his family. Holidays and planning family vacations were especially enjoyed by Donald. He loved his children and grandchildren and would always be there when any of them needed anything at all. Donald always had a book to read, especially science fiction books. He loved movies and would often stay up late watching an old classic. Donald could repair almost anything, from furnaces and plumbing to cars. He was especially proud of the work he had done on the family home over the years. He and Kathryn would often take road trips on weekends, just the two of them. Their love and marriage was an example and a goal for their children throughout their lives. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Kathryn, and his daughters Nicole Scott, with her special friend Ryan Still from Bedford, and Deanne Jackson, with her husband Todd from Creston, his grandchildren, Sierra and Logan Paul, and Jade, Connor, and Elias Jackson. | 012Andrew M. “Mike” Greenlee, 89, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Monday, October 17, 2011 at Highland Health & Rehab in Bella Vista. He was born on February 1, 1922 in Bedford, Iowa to Roy F. Greenlee and Maud E. Porter. He was raised and educated in Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and The Korean Conflict. Mike married Muriel Jean Slack on August 5, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a Sub-station Electrician for Mid America Energy in Red Oak, Iowa. He retired to Bella Vista in 1990. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Red Oak, Iowa and the Nomad Shrine Club in Bella Vista. Mike was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Steve lived his entire life in the Blockton area attending school and graduating from Bedford High School with the Class of 1972. In fact, he only missed one day of school in 13 years, a trait he would eventually pass on to his children! When he was in the 7th grade a girl named Debra Huelskamp caught his eye . . .they started dating and on December 15, 1973 they were united in marriage at Christ The King Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they were blessed with the birth of one daughter and three sons, Amanda, Nick, Wyatt and Jared. Steve and Deb lived in Blockton for a short time after their marriage before moving to the rural area where he had grown up. He farmed all of his life and drove a semi for the past fifteen years with Deb traveling with him after she retired from being the Bedford School Nurse for many years. They loved traveling many places in their RV all year long. Steve was never one to sit still. He always had a project to work on or a problem that needed fixing. His entire life was wrapped up in his family, their friends, loving his wife and enjoying his grandkids. Each summer would include a two or three week vacation traveling around the United States, often times staying at National Parks. He enjoyed attending his kid's activities as they were growing up, especially the football games! He cooked a lot, with steak and potatoes being his specialty. He was known to collect cast iron cookware and other items he felt worthy of collecting! He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and being with family and friends. Every year he would prepare the deer camp for his boys. Steve's life revolved around his wife and children. Phyllis Mae (Sefrit) Pratt was born December 19, 1927, in Delphos, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Gladys (Elmore) Sefrit. Phyllis lived her entire life in southwest Iowa and graduated from New Market High School with the Class of 1945. Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert Pratt on June 3, 1945. They were blessed with three children, Linda, Connie and Ron, eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Phyllis and Bob farmed near Siam for forty-seven years. Bob preceded her in death in 1992. Phyllis then moved to New Market in 1993. Phyllis was a member of the Siam Church of Christ and a member of many community organizations. Phyllis was known for her generous heart and her wonderful cooking and baking. She enjoyed spending time with her family and having them all together during holidays, especially the Fourth of July! William Edgar Copeland was born May 4, 1923, in Colfax Township, Page County, Iowa the son of William Wallace Copeland and Margaret Elma Cabeen. He grew up attending Mount Hope Country School to the 8th grade, then he graduated with the Class of 1941 from the College Springs High School. Edgar was active in athletics in high school. His greatest accomplishment was winning first place at the Little Seven Track Meet in 1941, setting a school record that was only broken in 1973 by his son Jim! After high school, Edgar helped area farmers due to the fact so many young men were gone fighting in World War II. In March of 1944, Edgar enlisted in the United States Navy faithfully serving his country until March of 1946. Edgar had been a Signal Man on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, Edgar returned home and on June 1, 1949, he was united in marriage to Aletha Monson at her parent's home following a tornado that passed only 600 feet from their home! Edgar and Aletha were blessed with the birth of two children, Barbara and Jim. Edgar was baptized and was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Blanchard, Iowa until its closing in 1952. He then joined the College Springs Presbyterian Church on July 4, 1954, and remained a faithful member until his illness in 2011 which caused him to be housebound. During those years he served as a Trustee and Elder for several terms. Edger was the Clerk of Colfax Township for over 30 years with his main focus being the repair and upkeep of the Blanchard Cemetery. He also represented the Colfax Township for the Farm Bureau for many years. Edgar loved farming and the lifestyle it provided his family. He loved raising hogs, combining at harvest time and especially enjoyed working side-by-side with his neighbors. Being a farmer gave Edgar the ability to enjoy nature and all it had to offer while he was outdoors. Left to cherish Edgar's memory is his loving wife of sixty-two years, Aletha Copeland of Clarinda; his daughter, Barbara Untiedt and husband Bill of San Antonio, Texas; and son, Jim Copeland and wife Barbara of Clarinda; two grandchildren, Matthew Untiedt and Megan Mungia and her husband Matt; three step-grandchildren, Jeff Williams and wife Donna; Wendy Baker and husband Jason; and Travis Kirchner and wife Liz; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Wheeler of Lake Bluff, Illinois who is 97; along with many other relatives and friends. | 017Woodrow Wilson Farley, the oldest son of Charles C. and Dona (Makings) Farley, was born October 2, 1914 near Fairfax, Missouri. He had five brothers and grew up on a farm five miles southwest of Fairfax in an area known as “Angel Hollow”. He attended Angel Country School and graduated from Corning High School, Corning, Missouri in 1933. Woody, as he is known to many, began earning a living as a hired hand to various farmers in the community. In 1942, he was drafted in the United States Army and served his country in Germany during World War II. Woody served on the front line as a litter Bearer; picking up casualties and carrying them to aid stations. In January of 1946, he was discharged as a T-5 Corporal in New Jersey. He returned to Fairfax, and was employed with International Harvester in Tarkio as a mechanic. In the summer of 1946, he met the love of his life; Ruby G. Grubb, and nine months later they were married. They farmed around the Fairfax and Tarkio communities and began raising their family. He then rented a farm outside of College Springs, Iowa, and this is where their last child was born. In 1961, they purchased Woody’s family farm outside of Elmo, Missouri where he continued to live and farm his entire lifetime. Woody also enjoyed writing poetry. In the 1970’s, Rob and Steve Bragg put his poem “Let Me remember Forever” to music, the song was registered and has copyrights in Washington D.C. Woody passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his home in Elmo, at the age of 97. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Farley, three brothers, Kenneth, Lloyd and Harold Farley. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; son, Glenn Farley and wife, Sally, all of Elmo; daughters, Danee Neely and husband, Ron, Holly Springs, North Carolina, Gail Pennebaker and husband, Tom, also of Elmo; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; brothers, Deril Farley and wife, Pearl, Omaha, Nebraska, Donald Farley and wife, Frances, Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Wilma Farley, St. Joseph, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. | 018LaVon Elaine Larson, the daughter of Abner and Leona (Proehl) Nelson was born November 9, 1934 in Montevideo, Minnesota. She passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 25 days. LaVon was raised in Montevideo, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Montevideo. In 1952, LaVon graduated from Montevideo High School and attended Jr. College at Rochester, MN, earning a medical secretary certificate. She moved to Omaha, NE and worked in the radiology department at Methodist Hospital for three years. On June 8, 1957 LaVon was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Larson in Montevideo, MN. Kenneth was a farmer and they lived on farms near Bethesda and Essex before 1964, when they bought and made their home on a farm north of Bethesda, IA. Along with helping Kenneth, LaVon worked at the Stanton Care Center for 15 years, as an aide and with laundry, but for most of the time with the dietary department. She was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, serving as a Sunday school teacher, and quilting with the ladies of the church. LaVon enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, sewing and playing cards. She was also involved in many neighborhood clubs and was still a regular with the Merry Mixers. LaVon treasured her family and loved to attend and support her grandson's school activities, along with other local events. LaVon was preceded in death by her father, Abner; husband, Kenneth on July 23, 2005 and sister, Wanda Flickinger. LaVon is survived by daughters: Lori Miloni and husband Tony of North Little Rock, AR; and Lynn Meier and husband Dennis of Villisca, IA; grandsons: Daniel Meier and special friend Jackie Carlson; and David Meier; mother, Leona Nelson of Clarkfield, MN; nephews: Ronald Falk and wife Connie of Columbus, NE; and Scott Flickinger and wife Debbie of Andover, MN; nieces: Carol Falk of Tucson, AZ; and Sheryl Bednar and husband Paul of Imperial, PA; other relatives and a host of friends. After leaving Scotland to live in New Zealand for a number of years, her parents came with their family to settle in the Bedford area. Daisy graduated from Bedford High School and then entered nurses training at the hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa. She married Troy John in front of the picture window of the Bedford Presbyterian Church Manse on December 8, 1936. They farmed south of Bedford all their lives until retiring and moving to 207 Jefferson Street in Bedford. A member of the Presbyterian Church since coming to this country, she enjoyed the fellowship of the Women's Association and was treasurer of the church for twenty some years. Along with being a partner to Troy on the farm, her work and hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, canning, and quilting. Most importantly, she was a friend to shut-ins. They were blessed with two sons, James and Mark. Maurice and Mahree farmed five miles west of Clarinda. Mahree enjoyed the farm life and the lifestyle it provided. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden. Mahree was always one to stay busy and active and was a perfectionist, liking things to be in order. She had a very caring heart and liked taking care of her many cats. Taking care of her family was very important to her. Mahree was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Clarinda Garden Club and the Clarinda Hospital Auxiliary. Preceding Mahree in death were her parents; husband, Maurice Eilers (06/23/2006); sister, Nadine Brownfield. LaVon Katherine (Allen) Moss was born March 6, 1939, in the Hatfield, Missouri area the daughter of Troy Allen and Lucy (Tull) Allen. LaVon grew up in Delphos and attended Delphos School, graduating from the Mount Ayr High School with the Class of 1958. After graduation, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she stayed at the Lutheran Girls Home while working at Pendleton Wool Factory making clothing. She met Eugene Robert Moss in 1960 and they were united in marriage in 1963 while Eugene was on leave from the military. To this loving union four children were born, Wanda Joyce, Billy Ray, Roger Duane and Hank Leroy. In July of 1973, the family moved to Lenox, Iowa where she was a stay at home mom until 1985 when she became a certified nursing assistant at the Lenox Care Center. She worked there until her retirement in 2001. LaVon enjoyed sewing projects and stringing beads. Her family will remember her by the numerous quilts, pillows and beaded necklaces she made for them. However, her favorite joy in life was taking care of her grandchildren! LaVon battled Parkinson 's disease sine the 1990's and has spent the last eight years of her life in the nursing home. She was finally able to rest on October 18, 2011. A 2008 graduate of North Nodaway R-VI High School, Josh also received, in 2009, a diploma in Business Networking Systems from Southwest Community College. He worked in the shipping department at Kawasaki in Maryville. Josh was a member of the Hopkins First Christian Church where he was a Junior Deacon, the National Honor Society, and the National Society of High School Scholars. Josh played both basketball and football in high school and was a member of the FFA. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents Gene and Pearl Burgess and an uncle Michael Burgess. Survivors include his parents, Larry and Melody Bix, brother Cody Bix, paternal grandparents Glenn and Sharon Bix, all of Hopkins; paternal great-grandmother Charlene Brunk, Savannah, Missouri; aunts and uncles: Joe and Marianne Brown, Hopkins, Marilyn and Dick Schuetz, Versailles, Missouri; Glenda and Gordon Craven, Grant City, Missouri and Jerime and Amber Bix, Sheridan, Missouri and several cousins. Benjamin Tyler McIntyre, 22, Hopkins, Missouri, died Saturday, October 29, 2011, as the result of an accident near Hopkins, Missouri. Ben was born September 28, 1989, in Maryville, Missouri to Craig McIntyre and Marsha Spalding McIntyre Martin. A 2008 graduate of North Nodaway R-VI High School he was a carpenter with McIntyre Construction. Ben was active in baseball, football and the drum line in high school, where is also served on the student council. Survivors include his parents Marsha and Curtis Martin and Craig McIntyre of Hopkins; brothers: DeWayne McIntyre, Maryville and Rollie (Cindy) Martin, Sheridan; sisters: Amber (Andrew) Lauritsen, Bedford, Iowa and Courtney Martin, Hopkins; grandparents: Bill and Carole Spalding, Hopkins and Gary and Jackie McIntyre, Maryville and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Dennis Francis Manning , 71, Maryville, Missouri, died October 27, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Maryville. Denny was born October 9, 1940, in Maryville to John Francis and :Lucille Emma Wilmes. He married Carol Lee Muir April 25, 1996, in Maryville. A 1958 graduate of Horace Mann High School, Denny worked for NEBS for thirteen years, the City of Maryville, six years and was a school bus driver for eight years. Dennis was a member of the St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Nancy Jane Manning and nephew Johnny Manning. Surviving him are his wife Carol Manning, Maryville; five sons: Robert Manning, Skidmore, Missouri, William Manning and James Manning, St. Joseph, Missouri , Robert Gormley, Titusville, Pennslvania and Michael Gormley, Branson, Missouri; two daughters Kelli Manning and Kathryn Bennett, Maryville; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Gary Manning, Raymore, Missouri, Bill Manning, Omaha, Nebraska, and Rick Manning, Maryville; seven sisters: Carolyn Puckett , Sandra Stiens, Jeanette VanBaren, JoAnn Linville, Barbara Farnan, Marlene Proctor and Susan Manning, Maryville. William Cleo Reed, 91, Clearmont, Missouri, died October 26, 2011, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, Missouri. Bill was born November 26, 1919, in Quitman, Missouri to William Jennings and Mabel Percy Lowe Reed. He served his country in the US Army during World War II. 1st Sergeant Reed received three bronze stars from active duty in Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland; He married Frances Jones March 2, 1947 in Grant City, Missouri. She preceded him in death in 1970. Bill then married his present wife, Josephine Marie Baldozier Dolph on June 25, 1971, in Oregon, Missouri. William was a member of the Clearmont Baptist Church.. Preceding him in death were his parents, first wife, Frances; two sons: William Lynn and Kyle Scott Reed; step-son David Eugene Dolph; and two brothers Vernon and Emmett Reed. Survivors include his wife, Josephine, two children Kirby (Tammy) Reed, Pickens, South Carolina and Marsha (Fred) Catchpole, Jacksonville, Florida; step-son Virgil (Gwen) Dolph, Atlanta, Georgia;daughter-in-law Betty Dolph; two brothers: Lloyd (Letha) Reed, St. Joseph, Missouri and Ferman (Betty) Reed, Maryville; one sister Kathryn (Ralph) Benson, Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters-in-law: Phoebe and Wanda Reed; and twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchilden Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm Sunday, October 30th at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
