Foreman
School was located 10 miles southwest of Paris, Missouri, in the
southwest corner of the northwest section, 7-53-10. It was one
of the oldest schools in Monroe county, and was organized
probably in the 1840's - 1850's.
One of
the first schools in the area of Foreman was "Bee
Creek" which was one half mile east. It was a log building
and was dismantled and moved to a hill on the Schrader farm in
the late 1800's or early 1900's and was used as a corn crib.
This old building was about 20 feet by 30 feet.
The
Cecil, Missouri post office and voting precinct joined the
school grounds on the north. This post office was closed about
1920.
In the
Paris Baptist Church Session minutes there is mention of a
meeting being held at Bee Creek and this no doubt referred to
the old log building.
