“The
Cedar Grove Primitive Baptist Church was organized at the home of
Eli Bozarth on May 7, 1831.
There were 19 members.
The first church building was inside Paris, a log building
located at the south entrance to the covered bridge; the second
building was a brick structure.
Later a split occurred between the missionary and the
non-missionary members and after using the same house of worship
for a time, the non-missionary members sold their interest in the
building and built what is now the Second Baptist Church of Paris.
Later this was sold to the Negro Baptists and the
congregation moved to the present Cedar Grove location. ”
