Lumber Was
Cheap.
In May 1836,
an order regarding the first covered bridge across Middle Fork at
Paris showed that the weather boarding cost $1.20 per hundred
feet, nails 9¢ per pound, for fills and an approach to the bridge
on the North side, $37.50; for fill and approach to bridge on
South side, $25. James A. Abernathy was the contractor.
