The modern
house in which M. E. Buerk lives at Paris is simply a modernization of the
pioneer home the two Buerk brothers, Thomas and Christian, built on that site
when they came from Wurtenburg, Germany. A heavy growth of forest trees
covered all that part of the town when they selected the site for their house in
1853. The clearing was done with their own hands.
