Thomas James MOORE - Born 3 Feb 1836 in
Hopewell, Washington CO, PA. His family moved to Lee Co., Iowa. With Missouri
having the closest enlisting post, he enlisted in January 1862, in 2d MO.
Cav; was promoted to Second, then to First Lieutenancy; the 2d MO., with
other veterans, were transferred to the 13th MO. Cav., after the close
of the war, they were placed on frontier duty; discharged in May 1866.
He was in charge of the recorded for his company. After the war he settled
in Elkhorn, Warren CO, MO were is passed away on 31 May 1905. He
was married to Jane MATHEWS and had two sons and two daughters. Sent in

Day (1997) to:
John PARTNEY 100 yards from Brick Cemetery,
Co. I 8 Prov En.Mo. Mil. This grave was just located last Friday
on a search for cemeteries in Washington County, Missouri - the grave is
located about 100 yards from Brick Cemetery, Section 33, Township 30N,
Range 3W in Washington County. The Brick Cemetery is inside
a mining property and had not been previously clearly identified and inventoried.
The grave is marked with a military headstone. Larry

Cemeterey, Washington Co. Mo. Born Sept. 30, 1829 County Galway,
Ireland. Came to the U.S. in 1833. Moved to Washington Co., Mo by
1860. Died Aug. 25, 1913 Washington Co., Mo. Was a Private
who sometimes served as company cook for 1st Neb. Cavalry, Co. C.
He enlisted in St. Louis in Sept. 1861. He reinlisted Nov. 24, 1863
in Brownville, Ne. He was discharged in Omaha, Ne July 1, 1866.
He was married to Mary Lemmons before he enlisted and had 2 daughters,
Sarah and Elizabeth. Mary died while he was away. He married
Sarah Scaggs after he was discharged. The had 2 sons, Joseph C. and
John William, and 3 daughters, Ellen, Ann, and Frankie. Terri

Jesse B. Wilson . Pvt. Company I 32d Missouri Home
Guard Regt E. Mo. May 1, 1863 Potosi, Missouri. Last surviving Civil War Veteran in Washington
County, Missouri. Died May 25, 1940. Buried in Wilson Cemetery 8 miles west of Potosi, Missouri
just off Missouri State Highway 8 by White Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Robert Bays: b. Dec. 23, 1844, d. July
13, 1932. Enlisted at Mineral Point May 4, 1863, U. S. Army, Pvt. Co. K,
8th Reg. Served until Aug. 22, 1865, when he was mustered at Potosi. Contributed
by John Abney.
These men were captured by Confederate forces during Price’s Raid.

Company F; b. 8 Oct 1835 in Iron County, TN. Died 7 Sep 1881. Husband
of Elizabeth Lester. These are great-great-grandparents. Buried in the
abandoned Lester Cemetery (lat 37d 01.1m N, long 90d 36.7m W) on the Barlow
Switch Ranch in Wayne County, Missouri. Chip
Stratton
William Jasper Nelson was born 1 May 1827
in Overton County, Tennessee. He married Rebecca McGaughey 15 June
1843. Their children were Robert, Mary, John T., Margaret, George,
Sally, Nancy, Louisa, and Josie. He served with Tennessee Confederate
28th Infantry, Company K. He was captured 27 Nov. 1863, and spent
the rest of the war as prisoner at Rock Island, Illinois Federal Prison.
He came to Missouri in 1882. Jasper died 22 Aug. 1896 and is buried
at Cool
Springs Cemetery, Wayne County, Missouri. Mary

Joshua S. Pigg was born 16 Jan. 1845
in Overton County, Tennessee. He served in the Tennessee Union 8th Mounted
Infantry, Company C. He came to Missouri in 1882. He married
sisters (Mary Nelson on 31 Aug. 1876 in Overton County, and Margaret on
13 May 1880 in Logan County,
Kentucky). He was the father of five sons: John, George,
Cleveland, Jay, and Frank). He died 11 Dec. 1919 and is buried in
Cool Springs Cemetery, Wayne County, Missouri. Mary

John Alexander Locke Ijames,
Buried in
Carson Hill Cemetery, Wayne County Missouri. Born 1835 in Davie County,
NC, and moved to Missouri as a young man to become a farmer. Died 16 Oct.
1873. Served in Co. A, 49th Regiment Missouri Volunteer
Infantry. Was wounded and most likely taken prisoner at the battle of Pilot
Knob, Sept. 27, 1864. He died of "disease of the bowels" as a result of
this injury.
Matthew Newberry Ijames, buried Carson
Hill Cemetery, Wayne County Missouri. Born 1842, in Davie County,
NC. Joined Co. F, 13th NCT "the Davie Greys" at age 19.
he was wounded and captured twice and after the War moved to Wayne County
Missouri to live near his older brother. He was a farmer, school
eacher,constable, justice of the peace and served on the county court before
his death 22 Aug. 1910. Susan

RANDALL, John Alexander, b. abt 1829 in
Tennessee, and married 11 Jul 1851 to Mary Lee TATUM of Tenessee.
At least two children were born there, then he and his parents moved to
Wayne County MO, and within the space of seven months in 1856-1857, John
had buried his infant daughter, wife, father, and mother. John was
listed in 1860, with his two children, in Reynolds County, living near
his brother, Thomas J. RANDALL, with whom he may have entrusted his children
for the next three years. In Aug 1861, John was mustered into Company
F of the 6th Regiment Cavalry Volunteers of Missouri (Hawkins' Company).
From Sep 1861 to Feb 1862, he and his brother,
Jefferson M. RANDALL, served in the bodyguard
for Ulysses S. Grant. He served with Grant in the
Mississippi River campaign, including Vicksburg, then his company was
assigned to the Department of the Gulf where he completed his 3 years of
duty, and was mustered out on 16 Aug 1864 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Returning
to Wayne County, he married Frances E. Worley, and raised the two children
of his first marriage in addition to six children of their own. John
was a farmer, whose occupation in 1880, was listed as a magistrate.
He died 25 Feb 1887, and his Civil War headstone is located in Mile Cemetery,
outside of Piedmont, Wayne County, near those of his parents. Randy

Salathiel A. HARRIS b. 1822 or 23
near Athens, Jackson Co, Georgia, d. 1924, Wayne Co, MO (He owned a farm
near Patterson, MO, died at age 101 yrs 10 mos and 10 days.) Salathiel
was a 4th Sergeant ( 2nd Sgt from date of muster in) in Company A, 47th
Regiment, Missouri Infantry, Union Army. Appears on Company
Muster-in and Descriptive Roll dated 29 Aug 1864, Pilot Knob, Missouri.
He was 40 yrs, occupation: farmer. He enlisted 6 Aug 1864 at Patterson,
MO. (It also states he enlisted at Logan, Wayne Co, MO, 3rd district).
His eyes were blue, hair dark, complexion dark, height 5 ft 5 in. Appears
on Muster-out Roll dated 28 Mar 1865 at Benton Barracks, MO. Amount for
clothing or money advanced: $19.16. (All this from National Archives)
Other notes I have on Salathiel state he was in Company C, Wayne Co
Regiment of Enrolled Militia of MO and promoted 3 Oct 1862 to Aug 1864
as 1st Lt. of Company. Sept 19, 1864 marched to Doniphan. Had skirmishes
with Rebels. On 20th drove rebels from Doniphan and on 21st fought battle
at Little Black at ?? Boudivian farm. On 22nd fought battle at Patterson
and got slashed. Retracted to Pilot Knob. On 26th and 27th fought battle
of Pilot Knob. Retraced 3 days and pulled up at Rolla from Pilot Knob.
Oct 31, 1864, Pilot Knob, MO; Nov and Dec 1864, Spring Hill, Tennessee;
Jan and Feb 1865, Callioke, Tennessee; Jan and Feb 1865, Columbia, Tennessee.Salathiel
comes from an old Colonial line originally from Wales. His grandfather
was a Rev War patriot from Mecklenburg, North Carolina. His family were
slaveholders in NC and GA, which makes it interesting he moved to MO and
fought for the North. He had cousins who remained in GA and fought for

Stephen Canterberry, MO 47th Regiment
Company A 4th Corporal;He is listed in the rolls at Fort Davidson (near Pilot Knob)
as a "non-participant" in the battle because he was captured near Patterson just
before the battle in 1864, taken by General Shelby to Potosi, then killed near
Caledonia. He owned 224 acres in Wayne County.Christine Owens
