 SHORT, William Douglas "Kid" - b: 24 Jan 1828 in Knox Co., MO (son of William SHORT & Amy DOUGLASS, who were married in Boone Co., MO, & nephew of Mahala SHORT of Boone Co., MO) - d:  02 Oct 1925 in Rutledge, Scotland Co., MO.  He enlisted 1861 into Captain Dewell's Company of Green's Command, Missouri State Guard (eventually absorbed into the CSA).  Captured in Feb 1862 & eventually paroled.  Buried in the Harmony Grove Cemetery

Henry McGonigle was born in 1833 in Adams Co., Pennsylvania, son of John and Margery McGonigle who emigrated from Ireland in 1831. The family moved to Edina, Knox, Co, MO  in 1843. Henry served in the 21sr Missouri Regiment and was acting commander of Company B, which saw first action at Shiloh, making first contact with the CSA. He died 21 Aug., 1881 in Edina and is buried in the old cemetery at St. Joseph's Church.   Submitted by great-niece Margaret Stapleton

Captain James Marquess who served with Co G 27Th MO Inf. b 06 Novv 1818 d. 08 July 1880. He also served in the Missouri House of Representatives, elected in 1871.. He is buried in Baker Cemetery, Knox Co next to his first wife Anastacia "TACY" Baker Marquess.
