Middlebury Cemetery, Mercer County, Missouri

Middlebury Cemetery is located in section 11 of Washington Township in south-central Mercer County. From Princeton, go south on highway 65 approximately eight miles and turn left (east) on the last gravel road before entering Grundy County. Go east approximately one mile and turn on the first gravel road to the right (south). Follow this road approximately 1/2 mile to the cemetery. It is on the left side of the road where the road bends slightly. The cemetery was once the main burial ground for those who lived in and around the village of Middlebury which, in the 1860s and '70s, was a thriving little community with several residents and businesses including a hotel, blacksmith shop, general store and post office. Nothing remains to indicate the town ever existed. Middlebury Cemetery is in terrible condition. Most of the stones are gone, damaged or down. Most are now unreadable.
The following is a listing of known burials compiled in 2004 from various sources, and should not be considered 100% correct or complete.
