Hart & Hollars Cemeteries, Mercer County, Missouri

Hart Cemetery is located in section 13 of Harrison Township, Mercer County, Missouri and is six miles east of Cainsville in Harrison County.
The cemetery was originally the burial ground of the William Hart family and consisted of seven to ten graves.
The last recorded burial was that of Rebecca Hart who died in 1891.
The following is a listing of known burials in the Hart Cemetery and some biographical information that could be obtained from local sources.

HART William M. May 5, 1804 Oct 17, 1876  William Morgan Hart was born at Patterson Creek, Knox County, Kentucky, and was the son of John and Permilia (Morgan) Hart. He married Elizabeth Hart at Whitley County, Kentucky on Apr 8, 1828. She was the daughter of Peter and Hannah (Poe) Hart and was born Jan 7, 1807 at Prathers Creek, Ashe County, North Carolina. Peter and John Hart were brothers. Therefore, William and Elizabeth were first cousins. They had the following children:

John Morgan Hart Born 1837
Elizabeth died in Putnam County, Illinois in 1838 and William married her younger sister, Rebecca, in Putnam County, Illinois, on Nov 13, 1838. She was born Dec 25, 1816 in Ashe County, North Carolina. William and Rebecca moved to Livingston County, Missouri prior to 1840 and settled in the area which later became Harrison Township of Mercer County. They had nine children. All were born in what is now Mercer County.

WILLIAMS J. G.      Died at the age of 9 years




Hollars Cemetery
Hollars Cemetery is located in section 2 of Marion Township in north-central Mercer County.
From Princeton, go north on highway 65 seven miles to blacktop BB. Turn left (west) on BB and go approximately two miles.
The blacktop will turn to the north. Continue on BB just over a mile to the second road to the right (gravel).
 Follow this road approximately 3/4 mile. There will be a slight angle in the road to the right, then a short stretch before it angles back to the left.
The cemetery is off the roadway to the west before the slight right angle. It is no longer accessable and is on private property.
