Bethel Cemetery is located in the northwest portion of Mercer County, in Lindley Township, approximately 12 miles northwest of Princeton. From Princeton, go west on highway 136 to Route P and turn right (north). Go north on Route P for 8 1/2 miles to the first blacktop road to the left (west). Go west one mile to the church and cemetery. It is on the right (north) side of the road. Bethel Church is still active and the cemetery is very pretty and well maintained. This survey was conducted by Phil & Kathi Stewart on March 23, 2003.

Bower Cemetery

This cemetery is located about 1/2 mi west of Zion Church, in Harrison Township, Mercer County, on route N, then about 1/4 mi south. Graves have been farmed over and the stones are no longer there. The road is a mile from where the graves were. Gravestone inscriptions are from all marked graves as of Mar 6, 1967. Editor's Notes: Adam Bower: Born in Germany
An individual believed to be this Adam Bower is listed in the 1870 Census of Decatur County, Iowa with his wife, Barbara (born in Germany) and children John age 18, born in Pennsylvania; David age 17, born in Iowa; and Adam age 7, born in Missouri. Adam Bower is listed as 58 year old farmer, born in Germany.
The same family is listed in the 1860 Census of Harrison Township, Mercer County, Missouri, as well as another Adam Bowers. Both men were born in Germany, both had wives named Barbara and both had sons named James and John. One is listed as being three years older than the Adam Bower identified above.
