Obituary
Heart Attack Fatal To Frank ShelmadineFranklin Pierce, 3rd child of William D. and Ellen Nolin Shelmadine, was born June 19, 1863 in Franklin, Erie Co. PA.
From 1869 to 1870 the family lived in Ashalnd, NE, then moved to Michigan and later to Indiana where they spent the next nine years. Upon their return to Polk Co., the family settled near Shelby, and after a time moved to Osceola.
In 1893 he was united in marriage to Durdelle M. Hefflegower, and to this union were born five daughters and one son, a daughter, Myrtle, preceding her father in death 6 years ago.
Mr. Shelmadine has made his home in Osceola for the last 40 years and passed away suddenly at work at his home on Friday afternoon, November 22, at the age of 83 years 5 months and 3 days.
Frank was a mason by trade and took great pride in his work. He was devoted to his family and his cheery disposition made him a welcome companion among his many friends.
He is survived by his widow; five children: Glen C. Shelmadine, of Kearney, NE, Mrs. C.B. Pettet, DesMoines, IA, Mrs. G.W. Merrick, Laramie, Wyoming: Mrs. E.J. Tschanner, Lindsay, OK and Bess, at home; two brothers, Fred M. of Alliance, NE, and Leonard L. of Macon, MO, two sisters, Mrs David Timm Moline, Illinoise and Mrs. Guy Peterson, Lake Port, California; 25 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock PM on Monday from the Methodist Church at Osceola, Rev. G.A. Randall, officiating, assisted by Rev. John Herrmann. Internment was made in the Osceola cemetery.
