DAVID CRAWFORD TERRY ca 1790 - 1844

STATE OF MISSOURI, County of Lincoln: The state of Missouri to all who shall see these presents - Greetings: Know ye that David C. TERRY late of said County deceased, died intestate as is said and Thomas B. COPHER having given satisfactory security and complies with the other requistions of the law. Therefore I Francis Parker Clerk of the County Court of said County in vacation of said Court, do gave and grant unto the said Thomas B. COPHER free ? and authority to administer all and singular, the goods and chattels, lands and tenements rights and credits of the said David C. TERRY deceased where ever they mady be fournd, and to ask, ? and legally requie and receive all and all manner of debts and demand all and ? to said deceased and will and faithfully to dispose of the same according to law and lastly I do by these presents constitute and appoint the said Thomas B. COPHER administrator of all and cingular the goods and chattels, land and tenements, rights and credits of the said David C. TERRY deceased. September 1844

STATE OF MISSOURI, County of Lincoln: Thomas B. COPHER being duly sworn, upon his oath says that: Elizabeth TERRY the widow, Nancy N. TERRY, William C. TERRY, James W. TERRY, David T. TERRY, Elizabeth H. TERRY, Minerva C. TERRY, Wilmoth Sydnor TERRY , Mary ? TERRY, and Susanna C. TERRY are the only heir and legal representatives of David C. TERRY late of said county, deceased, to the best of his knowledge and belief, that the deceased died without a will, that he will make a perfect inventory of, and faithfully administer all the estate of the deceased, and pay the debts as far as the assets will extend and the law direct, and account for and pay according to law all assets which shall come to his possession or knowledge. 11 Sept 1844 Thomas B. Heirs of David C. Terry recorded 11 Sept 1844: Nancy N. Terry about 23 years of age William C. Terry 21 in May last James W. Terry 17 next Christmas David T. Terry 15 next Christmas Elizabeth H. Terry 13 in July last Minerva C. Terry 10 in October last Wilmoth Sydnor Terry 5 in July next Mary W. Terry 3 in March next Susanna C. Terry 5 months of age

Inventory of will: 80 acres by certificate of entry dated the 25th of Oct 1841at the office of Palmyra, Missouri. No money No slaves Household goods, livestock, 7 or 8 acres of tobacco standing in the field.

Rebecca Turner was the daughter of Miles Standish Turner and Mary "Polly" Hattfield. Dorthuly Ann Williams was the daughter of John P. Williams and Mary "Polly" Hatfield. Dorothuly and Rebecca were half sisters. Rebecca married Thomas B. Copher. Dorthuly married James Washington Terry, Sr., son of David Crawford Terry and Elizabeth Madding. Thomas B. Copher was made Administrator of the estate of David C. Terry 11 Sept 1844.

Source: Book 24, Page 201, 202 - Pitsylvania County, Virginia This Deed of Gift from Charles Terry Senior to James Terry and David C. Terry was presented in the Clerk office of Pittsylvania County Court on the 24th day of September 1821 and acknowledged by the said Charles Terry Senr to be his act and Deed and admitted to records.
