Jonah MORRIS 1802-1867 son of Israel MORRIS and Hannah BURDINE.

Jonah's son Israel MORRIS and grandson Samuel T. EAST executors of estate of Jonah MORRIS.  Source: Will Book 3 page 37.  (Will was bound in a very large will book and I was unable to photcopy.  I've listed the heirs and their inheiritance as written in his will):

To my wife, Jane, a quarter of land, including homestead, kitchen furniture, except side board, all personal property, $1,000.00 cash, one cow and six sheep, may have first pick of herd.
To my daughter Hannah RANEY, $500.00 cash, already advanced $150.00.
To my son James MORRIS, $300.00 cash, already advanced $700.00.
To my son Jacob MORRIS, $500.00 cash, already advanced $500.00.
To my daughter Virginia RUSH, $10.00 cash, already advanced $700.00.
To my daughter Angeline MCCULLOM, $500.00 cash and my side board, already advannced $150.00.
To my son Israel MORRIS, $10.00 cash, $590.00 already advanced.
To my son Henry H. MORRIS, $190.00 cash, already advanced $10.00.
To my grandson Sam T. EAST, son of daughter Polly EAST, deceased, $700.00 cash.

I hereby further request that the residue of my estate, after paying all debts, be divided equally between sons James, Jacob, Israel, Henry Morris and grandson Samuel EAST

January 09, 1869

EXECUTOR'S SALE OF REAL ESTATE
We the undersigned, executors of the estate of JONAH MORRIS, deceased, will sell to the highest bidder, at the late residence of said deceased on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 1869, the large and well known Farm belonging to said estate.  THIS FARM is situated on the Salt River Road, 7 miles north of Troy, and 3 miles south of Auburn.  Contains about 700 ACRES, has good timber, never failing water, and a good dwelling house.  650 acres under fence and 350 acres in a fine state of cultivation.  TERMS:  The Farm will be sold in six lots, each containing from 60 to 200 acres.  A credit of 12 months will be given with 10 per cent interest from day of sale, the purchaser giving bond with approved security.  For further information inquire of Israel MORRIS on the premises, or Samuel T. EAST, Troy, Mo. executors of the estate of Jonah MORRIS, dec'd January 14, 1869.

[Voucher receipts showing monies paid out of estate, to heirs:]

James, Jacob, Israel, Henry morris, and Samuel EAST all received $1,422.00 each, residue of estate sale.

"The children of Anda MORRIS and Mahalia THOMASSON".........these children were grandchildren of Jonah MORRIS.  At one time, he or his decendants owned all the ground between Old Alexandria and Auburn Junction.  and as far west as Briscoe.  They donated land for two cemeteries and Morris School.
