John W. Witthaus Dies Of Heart Attack
John W. Witthaus, of University City, formerly of Lincoln County, died Sunday evening, January 20, following a heart attack. Although he had been in poor health for several years, his attack was unexpected. He was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Louis County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, January 23, at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. George Fisher. Interment was made in Zion Cemetery at Truxton.
Mr. Witthaus was born in Lincoln County on March 19, 1876. He was employed for a number of years by a barber supply company and visited Lincoln County as a part of his territory.
He is survived by his wife, Threse Witthaus of 7036 Corbitt, University City; a daughter, Verna Corrigan, of Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren, Patty Thompson and Robert Corrigan; three great-grandchildren; two brothers Herman Witthaus of Hannibal, and Louis Witthaus of Buell; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Wallace, of Hannibal, and Mrs. Lola Sheets, of Wellsville; nieces, nephew and other relatives and friends.
