Funeral services for Lynette Audrey COBB WITTE will be held at the First Christian Church of Troy on Friday, January 29 (1982) beginning at 2 p.m. Mrs. WITTE passed away Tuesday, January 26 at St. John's Mercy Hospital following injuries sustained in an automobile accident which occurred January 14 in Lincoln County.

Among the survivors include her husband Joe, who was also seriously injured in the accident; two sons, Eric and Darren MUDD of the home; and her mother, Hellen CREECH; and step-father, James CREECH.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynette WITTE Memorial Educational Trust Fund.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, (Wednesday, January 27) at Kemper Marsh Funeral Home.

Lynette Audrey WITTE was born March 18, 1943 at Troy, Mo., the daughter of Leo and Hellen NAGLE COBB. She passed away in St. John’s Mercy Hospital, Creve Coeur, Mo. Tuesday morning, January 26, 1982 at the age of 38 years 9 months and 23 days.

She was first married to Jack MUDD. Two sons were born to this union. She later married Joseph C. WITTE.

Mrs. WITTE was preceded in death by her father, Leo COBB. She is survived by her husband, Joe, of their residence; her sons, Eric MUDD and Darren MUDD; her mother, Hellen and her step-father, James CREECH; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret NAGLE; her paternal grandfather, Ben COBB; her step-grandmother, Kate CREECH, all of Troy; her aunts, Betty and her husband, Bob KUDA and Carletta and her husband, Ray MERCKLING; her uncles, Jim NAGLE and his wife, Donna, Earl COBB and his wife, Bernice, Tyrus COBB and his wife, Natalie and Johnny COBB and his wife, Kathryn; one great-aunt, Dorothy and her husband, Ira BICKEL and their families, her husband’s brothers: Martin WITTE, Jim WITTE, Harry WITTE and his wife, Nora; her husband’s sisters: Leona and her husband, Sam THORNHILL and June and her husband, C.O. ANDERSON; her husband’s nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and innumerable friends, including Louie WESTERMANN, a close friend of her and her husband.

Mrs. WITTE graduated from Buchanan High School in Troy with the class of 1961. She then attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, Mo. At the time of her passing she was employed as a secretary at the ASCS office in Troy.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Troy, where she and her family faithfully attended. She had held offices in the Claude Brown PTA and worked with the Boy Scouts. She also belonged to a social club.

Mrs. WITTE was a vivacious, energetic person. She was a happy person and met everyone with a smile. She made friends easily, and liked everyone, regardless of age. She had a charm that drew people to her.

Her family and friends are deeply grieved at the loss of this young woman who meant so much to them. But God in His wisdom has chosen to call her home, where she awaits the final reunion with her beloved family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. WITTE were held from the First Christian Church of Troy at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, Jan. 29. The church pastor, the Rev. Ken Finley, was in charge. The organist was Mrs. C. Robert Hall.

Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Rich PALMER, Bob DUNARD, Bob WERMUTH, Steve MAWSON, Clay MARSH, and John Ed SUDDARTH. Honorary casket bearers were James Clare MUDD and Jim PANHORST.
