Funeral services for Mr. James L. WITTE, 58, Troy, was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home Chapel, 1304 Boone St., Troy. Officiating will be the Reverends Mary Ellen Meyer and Fr. Donald Schramm. Interment will follow in the Mary Knoll Cemetery, Ethlyn, Mo.
Mr. WITTE passed away at 5:15 a.m. Monday, July 24, at his residence in Troy following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 6, 1931 in Ethlyn, a son of Clem J. and Agnes E. RELLER WITTE.
Mr. WITTE was president of Witte Brothers Truck Lines and a cattleman. He was also a member of the Troy Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, charter member of the National Cattlemens Association, member of the Missouri Cattlemens Association, and American Legion Post No. 94. He was a director of the Interstate Truckload Carriers Conference, and president of the Board of the Trojan Villa Senior Citizens Housing in Troy. He was also a member of the Troy VFW Post 8828, Troy.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Judy HUNT of Troy; two sisters Leona THORNHILL and husband Sam of Antioch, California, and June ANDERSON and her husband, C.O. of Moscow Mills.; two brothers, Joseph and his wife Sandra of Troy and Harry and wife, Nora, also of Troy; one uncle, two aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. He is further survived by special friends, Archer CUMMINS, Jr. of Norfolk, Va. And Melissa CABRERA of Tampa, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the McCoy and Blossom Funeral Home.
In memory of Mr. WITTE, contributions may be made to the Cancer Information Center at St. Lukes Hospital, 232 Woods Mills Road, Chesterfield, Mo. 63017.
The WITTE family was served by the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home of Troy.
