Obituary for Marvin Henry Weitkamp

Marvin Henry WEITKAMP was born on a farm near Troy, April 28, 1900, the son of George and Anna Marie KARRENBROCK WEITKAMP. He passed away in the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Sunday evening, August 5, 1984 following a brief illness. He was 84 years, three months and seven days of age.
On February 16, 1927 he was united in marriage to Miss Mamie Marie SEIVERT with whom he shared 57 years of married life.
Preceding Mr. WEITKAMP in death were his parents and two sisters: Ollie WEITKAMP and Hulda WEITKAMP; his brother Clarence’s wife, Viola; and a grand-niece, Donna WEITKAMP.
He is survived by his devoted wife Mamie of their residence near Troy; one brother, Clarence WEITKAMP; two sisters: Mary WEITKAMP and Ida WEITKAMP, all of Troy; one uncle, Albert KARRENBROCK and his wife Annie, one aunt Miss Alma KARRENBROCK, all of Moscow Mills; one niece, Anna Marie and her husband, Glenn CREECH; one nephew, George Harris WEITKAMP and his wife Virginia, all of Troy; one grand-niece, Nancy WEITKAMP JONES and her husband Howard of Wentzville; other relatives and many, many friends.
Mr. WEITKAMP was confirmed in the Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills. When he was twenty years of age, he became a member of the Zion United Church of Christ of Troy and had been a member of that congregation for 64 years. When he was a boy he helped with the construction of the Zion Church and as a man he helped with the construction of the church parsonage.
He served on the church council for 18 years. He was church treasurer for 17 years and for seven years he was treasurer of the Sunday School.
In addition to his church work he was active in the community. He was a member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau and was on the Board of the Farmer’s Elevator.
Mr. WEITKAMP lived a quiet life. He was very friendly and greeted everyone with a smile. He was always courteous.
He and his wife Mamie enjoyed a wonderful relationship and partnership. He was a good neighbor, always ready to help anyone anytime.
Mr. WEITKAMP’s wife, other family members, his church family and neighbors will greatly miss this fine man who enriched the lives of all with whom he came in contact.
Funeral services for Mr. WEITKAMP were held at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning from the Zion United Church of Christ. In charge was his pastor, the Rev. Robert Hicks. Dr. E. F. Brockmann was the organist and Lester Schloemann was the soloist.
Interment was in the Troy E&R Cemetery. Casket bearers were Alfred KUDA, Eddie B. HARDY, Oscar MUENSTERMAN, Marvin MENNEMEYER, Robert WERMUTH and Carl WERMUTH.
Visitation was at the Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
