Obituary for Eva Weitkamp (1901-1980)

Mrs. Eva Serena WEITKAMP of Moscow Mills, Mo., passed away very unexpectedly in the St. Joseph Hospital, St. Charles, Mo., Thursday morning, April 3, 1980. She was 78 years of age.

Funeral services for Mrs. WEITKAMP were conducted at 1:30 Monday afternoon, April 7, 1980 from the Moscow Mills United Methodist Church. Clergymen were her pastor, the Rev. Tom Sanders and a former pastor, the Rev. Lester Zacher. The organist was Steve Himmel and the vocalists were Mrs. Lester Zacher and Mrs. Walter Watson.

Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Casket bearers were Leon WEBB, Harold H. HILL, Harry WILMES, Bobby THORNHILL, Raymond LENK and George BERGESCH.

Visitation was at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy from Saturday afternoon until Monday noon, when she was taken to the church to lie in state until funeral time.

Mrs. WEITKAMP was born near Moscow Mills, Dec. 31, 1901, the daughter of Archie and Hulda HENDERSON SARTY. She was married November 8, 1924 to Amiel WEITKAMP. He passed away in 1972.

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Howard (Jean) WEBB of Freemont, Calif., and Mrs. Clyde (Audrey) JUSTUS of Cook, Neb.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, two nieces: Mrs. George (Reatha) BERGESCH of Moscow Mills and Mrs. Jack (Fay) WALZ of Troy; several great-nieces and nephews; several brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law; other relatives and many friends.

Mrs. WEITKAMP was the church musician for the Moscow Mills United Methodist Church for many years. She had received her 30 year pin from the Lincoln County 4-H council in recognition as having served as advisor; she had earned her 10 year pin from the Lincoln County Chapter, American Cancer Society; she was serving as the Moscow Mills City Clerk at the time of her passing; she had served two terms as President of the Lincoln County Homemakers Clubs; she helped plan the Moscow Mills Bi-Centennial and directed several of the activities. She was a retired employee of the Moscow Mills Post Office, and was involved in other activities of the community.
