Obituary for Anna Lou Weitkamp (1902-1972)

Anna Lou WEITKAMP was born July 12, 1902, near Moscow Mills, Mo., the daughter of Charles E. and Leona POLLARD MILLER.

She received her education in the schools of her community.

On December 30, 1922, she was united in marriage to Robert WEITKAMP, also of the Moscow Mills community. The young couple moved to St. Louis when they were first married and spent their entire married life there.

During World War II, Mrs. WEITKAMP became an employee of the Fred Harvey Co., and was employed in the Union Station in St. Louis. She left that employment to become a receptionist for the International Shoe Co. She retired after spending 16 years in that position.

Mrs. WEITKAMP became quite ill very suddenly at her home in St. Louis Thursday night, Aug. 10, 1972, and passed away unexpectedly a short time later. She was 70 years and 28 days of age.

Preceding Mrs. WEITKAMP in death were her parents and her only sister, Mrs. Lilliam BRAUNGARDT.

She is survived by her very devoted husband, Robert, with whom she enjoyed almost 50 years of very happy married life; 2 nieces: Leona and her husband, Oscar WESTHOFF, and Pearl and her husband, Dulin HARRELL; four nephews: J.C.BRAUNGARDT and his wife, Frances, Miller BRAUNGARDT and his wife, Betty Sue, Jack BRAUNGARDT and his wife, June, and LeRoy BRAUNGARDT and his wife, Bonnie Sue; 26 great-nieces and nephews; 13 great-great-nieces and nephews; one aunt, Mrs. Myrtle POLLARD; her sister Lillian’s husband, Julius BRAUNGARDT; her husband’s sisters, Viola and her husband, Reed POWELSON, and Lena and her husband, Fred CAPPEL; her husbands nieces and nephews: Carolyn and her husband, William WERMUTH, Louis Hanan POWELSON, Lula Vee and her husband, Clarence HEITMAN, and Billy POWELSON and his wife, Peg, Paul CAPPEL and his wife, Melba June, and James CAPPEL and his wife, Pearl, other relatives and many, many friends.

Mrs. WEITKAMP was a truly gracious lady. She possessed an inner beauty that seemed to radiate and touch everyone around her. She could always be counted on whether in time of need or joy.

She was very devoted to her husband, to her sister’s family, and her husband’s family, giving each a special place in her heart. Her warmth didn’t stop with her family. Her range of friends extended far. She made a point of keeping in touch with all her family and friends, always showing her love and concern for each. Mrs. WEITKAMP was a member of the Troy Chapter OES No. 405 and of social ………

There can never be anyone to take her place with her family and friends, but her influence will be remembered with love and appreciation throughout the life time of each fortunate enough to know and love her.

The Rev. Marvin BRAUNGARDT conducted funeral services for Mrs. WEITKAMP at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, August 13, 1972, from the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home. Kenneth LaRue was the soloist and sang "In The Shelter of His Arms" and "How Great Thou Art". Miss Cheri LaRue was the organist.

Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery. Casket bearers were J.C. BRAUNGARDT, Miller BRAUNGARDT, Jack BRAUNGARDT, LeRoy BRAUNGARDT, Paul CAPPEL, and Louis POWELSON.
