AVERY WALKER DIES

Avery WALKER, lifelong resident of the county, died at is home in Troy Monday, February 28, after an illness of several years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, March 1, at the Troy Methodist Church at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. N. Gaines and Rev. Guy Carroll. Interment was made in the Troy city cemetery; where services were in charge of the I.O.O.F. Lodge.

Avery Richard WALKER, son of Lewis and Mary Elizabeth WALKER, was born near New Hope on Apri 8, 1881, being 62 years, 10 months and 20 days of age at the time of his death. On December 30, 1930 he was married to Miss Mary HUTT, who survives him. He also leaves two brothers, Edgar WALKER, of Hoxie, Ark. and Ruff (pronounced like Roof) of the state of Nevada; a sister Mrs. Georgia RYBOLT, of Winfield; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Jennie HUTT, in his home; a nephew, Hurley WALKER, who was reared in his home from age 18 months and other nieces and nephews.

He had been a faithful member of the Sugar Creek Methodist church since December 1898 and a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Troy, for the past 34 years.

The Sugar Creek Methodist Church was located near the end of Frenchman's Bluff Road, a very short distance before you come to the blacktop Hwy 147. There is a small house, may still be used as a club house, where the church used to stand according to my deceased mother, Lillie Hutt Hilton. She told of the meetings they attended and the baptisms in Sugar Creek in what is now a part of the Cuivre State Park. ]
