Obituary for Flora Allen Terry (1887-1980)

Flora TERRY

Flora TERRY, nee ALLEN, was the oldest of eight children born to Robert Pine and Angie ALLEN of Truxton, Missouri. In 1904 she married Henry Freeman TERRY and they became the parents of five children. Two little girls, aged 18 months and nine years, were buried in the same coffin at the time of Henry's death in 1919.

Survivors are Edna STAHLHUTH of St. Louis, Robert TERRY, of Silex and Angie GARGAC of Granite City, IL., a sister, Gertrude MILLSPAUGH resides in Fairfield, Ohio, and a brother, Bruce, in the state of Arizona. A sister -in-law, Isabelle ALLEN of Louisiana, Mo., as well as Bruce and Gertrude were physically unable to attend the funeral services.

Flora was employed as a nurse at Missouri Pacific Hospital and retired at the age of 67. Flora and Henry were active in the Methodist Church of Truxton. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and he served as Sunday School Superintendent. One of her favorite verses is 1 John 4:8 " He that loveth not knoweth not God for God is love."

They resided on a farm three miles from Truxton and commuted by horses and buggy over dirt roads. Often, after a rain, it took as much as three hours to make the trip.

Flora was born January 3,1887, and died Aril 28, 1980. Services were held at Mount Tabor Church of Christ , 6520 Arsenal, St. Louis, Thursday 10:30 a.m. Interment was in Oak Cemetery, New Truxton, Mo.

[Transcriber's Note: I had a query on some of this family. I looked for the place of burial. They may very well have to go to Warren Co. Mo. to find this cemetery. I am sorry that I am not familiar with Warren Co. ]
