Dorothy SWOPE
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy SWOPE were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Troy Chapel of Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy, Mo.
Mrs. SWOPE, 80, died at the Pink Home of the Angels April 22, 1991, where she had been a resident for the past three and one half years.
She was born Nov. 3, 1910, in Lincoln County, Mo., the daughter of John Thomas & Ida Lee HOMBS PAGE. She was educated in the Troy School District. On Aug. 15, 1925, she was united in marriage to Theodore BELVILLE. To this union one son was born, Melvin L. BELVILLE.
Dorothy was married in August of 1934 to Cecil SWOPE, who cared for her for 32 years until his death in 1966. Mrs. SWOPE was a devoted wife and homemaker, attending church faithfully at the Morganford Church of Christ in St. Louis until her health failed .
Mrs. SWOPE is survived by her son, Melvin BELVILLE of Briscoe, and wife, Virginia; one granddaughter; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Lara HUTCHISON, of St. Louis; one sister-in-law, D'Arline PAGE of St. Louis; nieces, nephews and many friends.
The Rev Joel Cox officiated at the services with music being provided by Mrs. Patty McCully and Mrs. Margurite Schemmer. Interment was in the Old Alexandria Cemetery in Old Alexandria, Mo.
