Obituary for James W. Simpson (1861-1942)

JAMES W. SIMPSON

James W., son of William and Elizabeth Ann SIMPSON, was born June 19th, 1861 and departed this life March 12, 1941, at his home in Winfield, Mo., after a lingering illness of several months. He was united in marriage to Miss Isabell FORBUSH, January 14th, 1886. To this union four children were born: Richard G. of Mammouth, Ill, and William S. of Winfield; two daughters, Marie and Lorene, preceded their father in death a number of years ago. Mr. SIMPSON was converted and united with the Highland Prairie Methodist Church 49 years ago to this faith he remained loyal to the end. His passing was not altogether unexpected. Death came peacefully and calmly.

Mr. SIMPSON leaves his devoted companion, two sons, six grandchildren, Mrs. Alva SHOEMATE of Lomax, Ill., Eugene SARTY and Mrs. Eula PARKHURST of the state of Oregon. Mrs. R. L. McLAUGHLIN of Cleveland, Ohio, Shirley SIMPSON of Winfield, Mo., and Marie SIMPSON of Mammouth, Ill. One grandson died in infancy. Two sisters, Mrs. Cora DYER of St. Louis, Mrs. Mollie BUCKHEAD of Springville, Calif., one brother Clem SIMPSON also of Springville, Calif., and six grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends mourn the loss of their loved one.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Perry L. PRICHARD at Winfield Methodist Church Saturday afternoon. Interment was made at Highland Prairie Cemetery. May his spirit rest in eternal peace is our prayer.
