Obituary for Thompson H. Shults (?-1902)
The Troy Free Press (Troy, Lincoln Co., MO).
From the papers of Mary Omahundro Hutt Walker

[Submitter's Notes:  I do not know if you wish to print this or not. I have checked and re-checked. The birth date has to be wrong as the obit has him being both baptized and married before he was born. I have in some of my Groshong and Crenshaw history a Thompson Shults, but this is not the same man. I checked the cemeteries. Cannot find a stone for him. -j. groshong]

THOMPSON H. SHULTS died at his home in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, Feb.15, 1902, of pneumonia. He was born near Moscow Mills, Dec.27, 1897 [sic], and was raised and educated in this county. Was a moral, upright young man, greatly beloved by all who knew him.

In 1891, during a protracted meeting conducted by our beloved brother, the late D.M.GRANFIELD, he was converted and confessed Christ and was then baptized into His name. He took membeship with the Christian Church at Moscow and has ever since adorned the profession then made and died in the full assurance of faith.

On the 11th day of September, 1895, the writer united him with Almeda CARTER in the bonds of matrimony at his residence in this city. To that union three children were born; the eldest, little Henry, died in early infancy; his bereaved wife, with two children, his widowed mother, five brothers, one sister and a host of other relatives are left to cherish and revere his many virtues.

His remains were brought to the Christian Church in this city Monday, where appropriate funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by Bro. G. F. Assister, in the presence of a large and sorrowful audience.
