OBITUARY S. R. SHANNON
Samuel Ralston SHANNON died suddenly Tuesday morning, December 19, at his home in Troy. He had been in failing health for several years past and had suffered intensely the past two weeks with pain resulting from an accident of many years ago.
Mr. SHANNON was the second eldest son of Sumner and Orleans Washington SHANNON and was born April 16, 1856, near Auburn. He had spent most of his life as a resident of Lincoln County.
He was married October 25, 1877 to Alice Cordelia WILLIAMS and to this union were born three sons, Calvin Benton and Charles Arlington, who had preceded him in death, and Thomas Elbert, who resides near Silex.
Mr. SHANNON was a good neighbor and those fortunate enough to enjoy his friendship knew a friendship that was sincere. His was a friendship that lasted through stormy as well as fair weather.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 oclock at the home in Troy. The funeral sermon was read by Rev. O. A. GORDON. Interment was in Troy Cemetery.
