Obituary for Joe Henry "Tip" Schieffer (1918-1984)

Joe Henry "Tip" SCHIEFFER was born March 7, 1918 in Lincoln County, near Troy, Mo., the son of John Joseph and Nettie Mae HOMBS SCHIEFFER. He passed away very unexpectedly at his home Tuesday morning, March 13, 1984 at the age of 66 years and six days.
On March 12, 1938 he was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Jane MARTIN. They became the parents of 12 children.
Preceding Tip in death were his parents, one son, Ray SCHIEFFER, three grandchildren, Patty Sue, Amanda and Joey SCHIEFFER, one sister, Rose THORNHILL and one brother, Charles SCHIEFFER.
Tip and his wife celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary just the day before his passing.
Other than his wife, he is survived by the following children, Jolene and her husband, Roman MENNEMEYER of Old Monroe, Howard SCHIEFFER and his wife, Nancy of Troy, LeRoy and his wife, Mary Ellen of Elsberry, Mo., Elsworth SCHIEFFER and his wife, Cheryl of Troy, David SCHIEFFER and his wife, Sharon of Troy, Randy SCHIEFFER and his wife, Tina of Troy, Larry SCHIEFFER and his wife, Becky of Elsberry, Tammy and her husband, Larry CROUCH of Troy, Nettie and her husband, Dennis COLBERT of Troy, Ann and her husband, John SILVERBERG of Fayette, Mo., and Miss Robin Joe SCHIEFFER of Marshall, Mo., 21 grandchildren, his step-mother, Mrs. Lorene SCHIEFFER of McRea, Arkansas, the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mary TWELLMAN of Moscow Mills, Ella and her husband, Oscar MUENSTERMAN of Troy, John SCHIEFFER and his wife, Idabell of Hawk Point, Margaret RAMSOUR of Moscow Mills, Alma and her husband, James HARRELL of Troy, Thresa and her husband, Headley HARRELL of Troy, Herman SCHIEFFER of Troy, Elnora SHAFER of Troy, Albert SCHIEFFER and his wife, Betty of Moscow Mills and Walter SCHIEFFER; his sister, Rose’s husband, Charles THORNHILL, and his brother, Charles’ wife, Georgia SCHIEFFER, his wife’s brother, James MARTIN and his wife, Joan of Moscow Mills, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and innumerable friends.
Tip farmed in Lincoln County and also worked as an electrician in construction work. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Troy and of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 2.
Tip’s life was centered around his family. One of his greatest pleasures was having all the family together and family affairs took precedence over everything else.
He was a most kind hearted man. He enjoyed taking care of his livestock and he and his riding horse were very good friends.
He always had time to help his neighbors. He had a happy disposition and the ability to make people feel good when they were around him.
His sudden passing is a shock to his family and friends. However, they all feel that if Tip could have had his say, this would hae been his choice of ways to enter into his eternal home.
All his family and friends are deeply grieved at the loss of Tip, but each has had their own life enriched because he lived.
Funeral services for Mr. SCHIEFFER were conducted from the First Christian Church of Troy, at 2 o’clock Thursday, March 15, 1984. Mrs. C. Robert Hall was the organist and Mrs. Jon Gillespie was the soloist.
Interment was in Thornhill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Bob MARTIN, Earl THORNHILL, Sam SHAFER, Russell SCHIEFFER, Art MUENSTERMAN, Jimmy HARRELL, Carl RAMSOUR and Howard HARRELL.
Visitation was at the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.
