Chester Harding Robbie ROBINSON, 79, of Vallejo, Calif., died Oct. 1, 1999 at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo. He was born Dec. 22, 1919 in Bellflower.
Services were Oct. 7 at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City with interment in the Bellflower Cemetery.
Mr. ROBINSON was employed by Mare Island Shipyard for 22 years before retiring in 1986 as a cabinet maker. He was a member and head usher at First United Methodist Church in Vallejo. He served in the Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Infantry Combat Badge, Bronze Star and medals of the Asian Theater of Operations. He rejoined the Army in 1950 and served in Korea, earning the Korean Medal, his second Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star.
He is survived by his wife, LaVada; one stepdaughter, Sharon BASTEAN of Missouri; five stepsons, Robert PALMER, Dennis LOVE, Earl LOVE, Daniel LOVE and Douglas LOVE; one sister, Dorothy RUFFINO of St. Louis; two brothers, Herbert of California City, Calif., and Raymond of Montgomery; 12 grandchildren, including one, Kathy LEESMAN of Vallejo, Calif., that he raised as a daughter; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rosemary J. ROBY.
Memorials may be to the National Kidney Foundation.
