Mrs. Myrtle RANEY Dies
Miss Myrtle RANEY, a former Recorder of Deeds for Lincoln County, was found dead in bed at
her home in Troy, Saturday morning, June 15. Sheriff Porter CROUSE forced entrance into
the home when called by neighbors who became alarmed when Miss RANEY did not answer their
knocking at the door.
She had been ill for several months, and had received treatment in a hospital last
winter, but her death was unexpected at this time. Born Nov. 2, 1882 at Old Alexandria,
she was 64 years and 8 months of age at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held at the Old Alexandria Methodist Church on Monday afternoon June
17, at 2 o'clock, Rev. T. Homer Trotter conducting the services. Interment was made in the
Old Alexandria Cemetery.
For the past several years Miss RANEY has been a local reporter for the Troy Free Press
gathering items of interest from the section of town in which she lived on College Street.
Her assistance will be greatly missed... ( date hand written..1946)
