DIED -- On Thursday, July 30, 1896, Miles PRICE, after a lingering illness of several years. Deceased was 80 years old and left a wife, seven children and several grandchildren to mourn his loss. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. M. Birkhead Friday morning, after which the remains were interred in the New Salem cemetery.
Contributor Notes: From census, deed, marriage and cemetery records, we know that Miles Hart PRICE was born in Kentucky. In Hardin County, Kentucky on 13 Nov. 1838, he married Letitia (Luticia) Ann HILTON, sister to Lee Ellen (HILTON) DORSEY, and daughter of William F. HILTON and Lucy BELT. They moved to Lincoln County, Missouri in 1851. Miles and his wife had children: Asa B. (1840-1880), Lucy (b1843), Delia (b1845), Robert Tilford (1847-1911), Elvira M. (b1850), William (b1852), Rosaline B. (b1855), Mary L. (b1858), Thodocia (b1862), Lee D. (1864-1935), and Birdie (b1876). Their first five children were born in Kentucky, while the last seven were born in Missouri. Since Miles' obituary states he "left a wife and seven children," apparently, three more of his children had died before this date.
