Death of Mrs. Kitty NORTON

Mrs. Kitty NORTON died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter ASTON, near New Hope, on Wednesday of last week, after a prolonged illness and patient endurance of great suffering. She was the mother of eleven children, all of whom survive her, as follows: Harvey E., Mrs. Lee BROWN, James Lewis, Rodney F., Mrs. Walter ASTON, Grover Cleveland, Mrs. SHELKER, Mrs. GUINN, Mrs. CROUSE, Henry H. and Walter R.

There is human suffering so great, there is grief so overwhelming, before which the tongue is silent, the heart crushed and the spirit broken. When word of Mrs. NORTON's death came to the anxious hearts, it was hard to accept the truth and to awaken to the cold realization that the ambition, the energy, and the loving kindnesses that marked her life were ended, and that her spirit had returned to the God who gave it.

Kitty Jefferson NORTON was born May 29, 1859, and was married October 14, 1878. She was 62 years, 2 months, and 18 days of age at time of her death. When quite young she united with the M. E. CHURCH at Old Alexandria, and was  a member of Smith Chapel at time of her death. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at Harmony Grove Church, Rev. L. C. MAGGART  officiating, and  interment was made in the church cemetery. Two favorite hymns of deceased, "It Is Well With My Soul," and "He Knows It all," were  sung by the choir, and Mrs. L. C. MAGGART sang a solo, "Sometime We'll Understand." The pallbearers were sons and a son-in-law of Mrs. NORTON.
