Obituary for Jacob C. Moseley (1835-1915)
The Troy Free Press, Troy, MO, 30 April, 1915, page 8, column 3.

Jacob C. MOSELEY, was born February 3, 1835, in St. Louis county. In 1856 he came to Lincoln county and settled on a farm a short distance west of Hawk Point. Here he spent many years as a farmer and stock dealer. He prospered in his business and in all business transactions his word was as good as his bond.
He was married to Sarah Ann CALDWELL November 27, 1856. To this union ten children were born only two of whom survive - Mary, wife of John B. CAMPBELL and Martha wife of John HASSELFIELD, both of Troy vicinity. A number of years ago he united with the Baptist church at Mt. Gilead (now Hawk Point) afterwards becoming a member of the church at Troy, with which he was connected at the time of his death.
Although more than 80 years of age, his physical strength held up well until recently he began to decline and without being much weaker, apparently than for some time, he passed away at 1:30 p.m. April 17, 1915.
He and his companion, who is also more than 80 years of age, have traveled together a long way, keeping "home" for nearly 60 years. Love and kindness may provide every requirement of her remaining days, but they must of necessity be lonely days for her. Because of this she will have the sympathy of friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services were conducted by the writer at the home two miles south of Troy Sunday afternoon April 18. A large number of relatives and neighbors were present and accompanied his remains to the Troy cemetery, where they were laid to rest.
