Obituary for Dewey Alvin Morse
(1906-1997)Dewey Alvin MORSE, 91 of Moscow Mills, Missouri died Friday, December 26, 1997 at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
The son of Lonzo and Beulah (JACO) MORSE, he was born November 11, 1906, Eddyville, Illinois.
On January 19, 1936, he married Edna Lee TWELLMAN, who preceded him in death on May 6, 1988.
Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Jewell NEWTON and Pearl DOBBERSTIEN and two brothers, Sam MORSE and Lee MORSE.
He is survived by: two sons, Roy MORSE and wife, Pat of Moscow Mills, Missouri and Dennis MORSE and wife, Sue of Chapin, Illinois; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby HARLOW of Kirkwood, Missouri and Opal DICKEY of Chicago, Illinois; and one brother, Bill MORSE and wife, Edna of Fontana, California.
Mr. MORSE grew up and attended school in Eddyville, Illinois. He was the National Golden Glove Featherweight Champion in 1926. He moved to Lincoln County, Missouri in 1936 and was engaged in farming all of his life. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ at Moscow Mills, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 29, 1997 at the Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills, Missouri. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday evening at the Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy, Missouri. Interment will be in the Friedens/Anderson Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Missouri.
A memorial has been established to the Friedens United Church of Christ and donations may be left at or mailed to Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home, P.O. Box 222, Troy, MO. 63379.
