DALLAS MONTGOMERY
A memorial service for Dallas MONTGOMERY of Troy, Mo., was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at the christian Community Center in Troy. Pastor Chris Roche officiated.
Mr. MONTGOMERY, 82, died Wednesday Nov. 3, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield. He was born April 21, 1921, in Old Monroe, the son of James Dallas and Martha Edna BIRKHEAD MONTGOMERY. He was married on Jan. 26, 1946 in St. Louis to Shirley SCHAPER.
Dallas graduated from Buchanan High School in Troy and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette. He served in the United States Army where he was stationed in the European Theater during World War II. Dallas was employed by Gooch Motors as a salesman and later bought Gooch Oil which he operated under the name of Montgomery Oil. He was a member of the Christian Community Center of Troy. He was a Rotarian and was a 50 year member of the American Legion. Dallas loved God and his church, enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and had an energetic personality. He was much loved by all of his family and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 57 years, Shirley MONTGOMERY of Troy; three children, Pattie PHILLIPS and husband, Bill of Troy, James G. MONTGOMERY and wife, Judy of Troy and Sue MONTGOMERY of Troy; four grandchildren, Wendy ROCHE and husband Chris, of Troy, Scott RAYFIELD, of St. charles, Chris PARKER and wife, Ivey, of Rome, Georgia, and Amy WOLF of St. Peters and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and on June 14, 2003, by one very special granddaughter, Jamie MONTGOMERY.
Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Community Center.
