Obituary for Roy F. McNealy (1916-1986)

Roy F. McNEALY passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 14, 1986, at 4:16 p.m. in the St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles, Mo. following a short illness.
He was born September 19, 1916, in Moscow Mills, Mo. He was one of five children born to Elmer and Minnie GAEDIKE McNEALY. Mr. McNEALY was raised on a farm in Lincoln County and as a child attended Hubbard School. He was baptized October 29, 1916.
He entered the Army January 1, 1943. While in the Army, he spent 19 months in North Africa with the First Replacement Depot as a pump operator. He was responsible for supplying water to a camp of 3000 men. He did all the maintenance work on the machinery, purified the water and made repairs on the gasoline engines.
After returning to the states, he spent 14 months in Omaha, Nebraska as a military policeman. He married Marie Margaret GENZLING on May 5, 1945, and to this union were born two children, Diane SUCHLAND and Larry McNEALY. Mr. McNEALY was discharged from the service on February 3, 1946. He started in the carpenter business for himself in 1952 and worked in that trade until he retired in 1978.
Mr. McNEALY enjoyed outdoor sports, especially hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local No. 1875, V.F.W. Post No. 8828 and Friedens United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Marie M. McNEALY; his mother, Mrs. Minnie McNEALY of Troy; one daughter, Diane SUCHLAND of Troy, one son, Larry L. McNEALY of Moscow Mills; two brothers, Earl McNEALY and his wife, Darlene of Wentzville and Edward McNEALY of Moscow Mills; four grandchildren, Jim and Dawn SUCHLAND and Josh and Sarah McNEALY. Also one sister-in-law, Clare VOEPEL and her husband, Fred of Troy and one brother-in-law, Paul GENZLING and his wife Evelyn, further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mr. McNEALY was preceded in death by his father, Elmer McNEALY and two sisters, Margaret Ann McNEALY and Dorothy McNEALY.
Visitation for Mr. McNEALY was held after 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 1986 at the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home of Troy, Mo. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, with the Dr. John Riggs officiating. Mrs. Marguerite Schemmer was the organist and she accompanied soloist Rev. Robert F. Hicks who sang "Abide With Me" and "Be Still My Soul".
Interment was in the Friedens Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Serving as casket bearers were Norman VOEPEL, Tom APRIL, Marvin COX, Roger MACOM, Charles Ray McNEALY and Tommy WEST.
Memorials may be made to the Friedens United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
The McNEALY family was served by the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home of Troy, Mo.
