Mr. John Edward McNEALY passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 1998 at the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, MO. He attained the age of 74 years and 3 days. "Edward", as he was known, was born on March 9, 1924 in Moscow Mills, MO to Elmer E. and Minnie GAEDIKE McNEALY, one of 5 children.
Edward grew up in Moscow Mills and attended the Hubbard School on Route U in Moscow Mills.
After schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and was sent to the Phillipine Islands. Following service in 1946, Edward began farming and helped Woodrow HILL for many years.
Upon retirement, he moved to Troy into the Senior Citizens apartments where he met many friends.
Mr. McNEALY was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers: Roy and Earl McNEALY and 2 sisters: Margaret and Dorothy McNEALY.
Edward is survived by 2 sister-in-laws: Marie McNEALY of Moscow Mills, MO and Darline McNEALY of Wentzville, MO. 2 nieces: Diane SUCHLAND of Troy and Linda WEST and her husband, Tom of Troy; 2 nephews, Larry McNEALY of Moscow Mills and Charles McNEALY and his wife, Fran of Wentzville; 4 great-nephews, 3 great-nieces, and 2 great-great-nieces. Mr. J. Edward McNEALY will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 15, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Friedens United Church of Christ, Moscow Mills, MO. Officiating was Pastor Eugene Rahmier. Serving as organist was Marie Himmel who accompanied the congregation as they sang: "The Old Rugged Cross" & "How Great Thou Art. Interment followed in the Friedens U.C.C. Cemetery, Moscow Mills, MO.
Visitation was held on Sat., March 14, 1998 from 4-9 p.m. at the McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home, Troy and also on Sunday, March 15, 1998 from 1-2 p.m. at the Friedens U.C.C. Moscow Mills, MO.
Pallbearers were: Frederick GERDIMAN, Marvin HIMMEL, Norman VOEPEL, Larry McNEALY, Jim SUCHLAND and Charlie McNEALY. Memorial donations may be made to the Friedens United Church of Christ c/o McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home, Troy, MO.
