Obituary for Sally Turnbull McMahan (1870-1944)

Sally TURNBULL MCMAHAN, daughter of Morgan and Matilda TURNBULL, was born in Calhoun County, IL. Nov. 11, 1870, and passed from this life at her home in Troy, March 18, 1944, having attained the age of 73 years, 4 months and 7 days.

She was united in marriage to Lee O. MCMAHAN, December 21, 1893. To this union seven children  were born: Earl D., of Houston, Tx; Osie (Mrs. "Gailen" BOYCE), of Troy; Stanley of Hannibal; Bedford, who is in the South Pacific; Albert of St. Louis; and Gladys who died at the age of two years.

Other survivors are: her husband, of Troy; four brothers, Albert TURNBULL, her twin brother of Sherwood, Ore. Frank and Riley, of Troy; and Howard of Wellsville; one sister, Mrs. John ROBERTS of Sherwood,Ore.; and six grand children. These loved ones together with other relatives and many friends are left to mourn her departure. Two brothers Dave & Richard, and two sisters, Mary TURNBULL and Lizzie YOUNG, preceeded her in death.

She united with the Baptist Church in early childhood and later changed her membership to the Methodist Church. "Eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard, neither hath entered into the heart of all the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." Another sweet and beautiful life has gone home. Her sympathies went out toward those in need and she had the culture of unselfishness which lost self in the service of others.

Funeral services were held at the Troy Methodist Church Monday afternoon March 20, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. N. Gaines. Interment was in the Troy City Cemetery.
