Obituary
The subject of this sketch was born in Virginia, June 14, 1835, and departed this life at
Newberg, Ore., Oct. 20, 1912, being 77 years 4 months and 6 days of age. He was married
August 13, 1856 to Mary E. MASSIE and came to Lincoln Co. just after the war and settled
on the farm owned by Riley BIRKHEAD. To this union were born a number of children, 3 of
whom survive, Mrs. R. B. HUTT and Mrs. I. N. FIELDER of Troy and Mrs. Jake TAYLOR of
Newburg, Ore. Mrs. MCKAY died Oct.17,1901.
About 5 years ago MCKAY removed to Oregon, where he married Mrs. Mary J. WORTH of Newberg,
April 18, 1908. The deceased had been in poor health for a year or more and the direct
cause of his death was paralysis. The remains arrived in Troy, Monday --- and a short
service was held at the Troy City Cem. by Rev. J. I.----- and the remains were buried by
the side of his wife. A widow and 3 children survive him.

O. C. MCKAY died at his home on West First Street, on Sunday, Oct. 20, after an illness of
only a few days, at the age of 77 years. The funeral services were held Mon. evening at
7:30 o'clock in the Hollingsworth Chapel, conducted by George C. RITCHEY. The body was
shipped Tues. morning to Troy, Missouri, being accompanied as far as Portland by J.
TAYLOR, son-in-law of the deceased. Mr. MCKAY is survived by his wife and three daughters,
two of whom live in Troy, Missouri, and Mrs. J. TAYLOR of
Newberg.
