Obituary for Mary Elizabeth McKay (1836-1901)

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth MCKAY beloved wife of O.C. (Oscar Caleb - j.g.), died at their home
near this city, Oct. 17, 1901, of the flux, after a number of days of great suffering.
She was the daughter of Robert G. and Elizabeth MASSIE, and was born in Frederick Co. Va.
April 7, 1836. She was md. to O. C. MCKAY, Aug.13, 1856 and the same year came to and
settled in Lincoln County, since which time the writer of this obituary has intimately
known and loved them both. To this union were 7 children born, all of whom have died
except 3 daughters: Emma E., wife of I. N. FIELDER; Virginia Lee, wife of Richard
Banks HUTT and Lena, wife of Jacob TAYLOR. She leaves surviving her, her beloved husband,
her daughters, a number of grandchildren, 3 brothers, sisters and many other loving
relatives in Mo. and Va.
On the 18th day of July 1874, she joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Sand Run under
the preaching of Rev. P. S. BRANDSTETTER and by him was baptized........
Funeral Services over the remains of this dearly departed sister in Christ the Lord, were
conducted by Bro. G. ASSITER, pastor of the Christian Church, at the home of the deceased
Oct. 18 at 3 p.m.......
After the services her remains were tenderly followed to and laid away in our city
cemetery, there to sleep until the resurection day. ....Wm FRAZIER
