W.D. McCOY, formerly a resident of this city, died in St. Louis Friday at the Masonic Home. The body was brought to this city Sunday and funeral services conducted at the Baptist Church Monday afternoon by Rev. Turnage of Perry.
The deceased was a man of noble Christian character and numbered his friends by his acquantances. He is a brother of L.W. McCOY of this city.
William David McCOY, the oldest son of John and Ellen Ann McCOY, was born February 25 th 1852 in St. Charles Co., Mo. near Wentzville. He was married to Miss Mary E. DOSS, October 8th 1873.
To this union was born nine children, three of whom are living, Charles S. of Toledo, Ohio, James T. of Center, Mo., and Mrs. Roxie V. ROGERS of Perry, Mo.
One son, Samuel E., preceded him in death 27 years ago, at the age of 17 years, the rest dying in infancy.
He was converted and joined the Baptist Church at the age of 22 years.
At the time of his death he was a member of the Perry Baptist Church.
He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 42 years, being made a Mason at Wentzville, Mo.
He was a member of Arbela Chapter No. 12 – O.E.S. of Londonia, Mo.
He leaves beside his wife three children, four grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.
Died March 13th 1925 at the Masonic Home St. Louis Mo., aged 73 years, 17 days.
