Obituary for Wade Hampton Vest Lovelace Jr. (1915-1990)
Services for Wade Hampton Vest Lovelace Jr. of Elsberry, Mo., were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 1990, at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. The Rev. Karen Burton officiated with burial in the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Elsberry. Pallbearers were Tom Exler, Dan Gooding, James Carnahan, Tom Butler, Dawson Dameron, Wayne Ricks and as honorary pallbearers, Floyd Lorenz and Lester Haddock.
Mr. Lovelace, 74, died April 9, 1990, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Wentzville.
Born May 31, 1915, in Elsberry, he was the son of the late Wade Hampton Vest Sr. and Bettie Isacc Trail Lovelace. He was united in marriage on Jan. 29, 1936, in Elsberry to Aletha Alberta Rose, who survives. He was a farmer and lifelong resident of the Lincoln County area.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps from Jan. 26, 1943, to Nov. 13, 1945, and was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, one brother in infancy, Henry T.. and Powelly Lovelace and two sisters, Mary Leella Waggoner and Emma Catherine Waggoner.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta Lovelace of Elsberry; their son, Larry Lovelace and his wife, Maria Klara, of Fort Polk, La; one granddaughter, Diana Gloria Lovelace; one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Christina Lovelace and one stepgrandson, Macko Protozner. He also leaves one brother, Louie Lovelace and his wife, Opal of Elsberry; one brother-in-law, Charles Rose and several other relatives.
