Obituary of Mrs. A.E. Larue (Katie Lee Shields) in Troy Free Press, Friday morning May 5, 1933, page 8, column 6 (abstracted):

Katie Lee SHIELDS second daughter of Thomas and Sarah; born New Salem neighborhood Dec. 11, 1869 and died at her home near New Galilee Church April 30, 1933 - at age 62 years 4 months 19 days; married 8 March 1892 to Alvin E. LaRUE; 9 children, 2 preceded her in death, surviving Mrs. Bedford LANGFORD, Alton, ILL; Mrs. Clarence ADMIRE, Oakwood; Mrs. Archie TAYLOR, St. Louis; Mrs. James SINGLETON & Mrs. Irvin RILEY, St. Charles; Mrs. Bud CROUCH, Winfield and Alvin, at home. Survived by 2 brothers, Mahlon SHIELDS, of near Troy and J.A. SHIELDS, of New Salem community; 2 sisters, Mrs. Henry TERRELL and Mrs. Emmett MAGRUDER, of New Salem vicinity.

Funeral services held Tuesday afternoon at New Galilee Church, conducted by Rev. M.D. DUDLEY, Interment Thornhill grave yard.
