John Herman JUSTUS was born near Old Monroe, Mo., on April 7, 1889 and passed away at his home in Moscow Mills on August 30, 1961 at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 23 days. He was one of seven children born to George and Mary JUSTUS, all of whom preceded him in death. He was baptized October 27, 1889. From July 1918 until May 12, 1919, he served in the Army and was overseas from September to January. On June 17, 1919 he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie MEYER, who also preceded him in death on March 18, 1956. To this union one son, Clyde, was born.
John worked for several years as a motorman for Public Service Co. in St. Louis. Then in 1934 he operated a service station for his brother-in-law and retired from business in May 1960.
He leaves to mourn: his son; daughter-in-law; 3 grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law; 5 sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were conducted from the McCoy Funeral Home to the Friedens United Church of Christ at Moscow Mills, Saturday, September 2, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Richard Brueseke in charge. Interment was in Anderson Hill Cemetery.
