Obituary for John J. Jameson (1834-1924)

John JAMESON, youngest son of George and Ida JAMESON, was born on a farm near Millwood, February 15,1834, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. M. GRAVEN, July 11,1924, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 26 days. In early manhood he went to California in search of gold with a company of relatives, making the trip across the plains in an ox wagon. He returned to his native state a few months later. He was married to Miss Catherine CASSIDY, May 9,1858. To this union eight children were born, namely, Mrs. Jennie POLLARD, Old Monroe; George JAMESON and Mrs. S. M. GRAVEN, of Sugar Creek vicinity; Mrs. Smith CARTER, Troy; Walter JAMESON, St. Louis; Will JAMESON, near Winfield; Mrs. Oscar LESTER, Owen, and Charles JAMESON, of South Dakota. He also leaves 30 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one brother, Green JAMESON, of Burbank (should be Burden), Kan., who was 92 years old last March. His remains were tenderly laid to rest at St. Paul cemetery beside his loving wife, who preceded him to the grave some forty years ago. His pall bearers were six of his grandsons; Earl and Harry Pollard, Leslie Graven, Smith Carter, Jr., John Lester and Clyde Jameson. So ends the life of one who is missed. May he rest in peace from this world of sorrow. -- E.J.C.
