Albert Dameron IVES

Albert Dameron IVES, the only child of George Ira Lapetta Geneva Turnbull IVES, was born Oct. 26, 1916 near Silex, Mo. He passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 13,1980 in Lincoln County Memorial Hospital, Troy, Mo. after a lingering illness. He was 63 years 2 months and 17 days of age.

He was baptized into the Christian Church at Davis, Mo. on Oct. 28, 1934.

On Sept. 11, 1948, he was united in marriage to Miss Floyd GILBERT of Bellflower, Mo. They spent their entire married life on their farm in the Silex area.

Mr. IVES was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gilbert George, who died in infancy in 1950.

Survivors include his wife, Floyd; his daughter Alberta Kay HALL and her husband, Bennie and their two children, Bennie and Scott; his son, Alan Floyd IVES, all of Silex; brothers-in-law; Jim GILBERT and his wife Gladys, John GILBERT and his wife, Donna Lee and Arthur GILBERT and his wife, Vera Mae, all of Bellflower; sisters - in- law Gladys LANGENECKER and her husband, Dene of Silex and Ruby COLBERT of Bellflower; Uncle George TURNBULL and his wife, Alvina of Silex; Aunts, Jenny BALDWIN and her husband, Alva of Hawk Point and Edith COLLINS of Hawk Point; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Mr. & Mrs. IVES owned and operated the Ives Cream Station in Hawk Point from 1954 until 1960. He also was the egg grader at Hawk Point Tom Boy Store for several years. During all those years, he also operated his farm.

Mr. IVES was a man who became involved . He managed a girls Khourey League softball team for several years. While working at the J. V. Midwest Manufacturing Co. in Troy, he helped organize Local 840 Union of Footwear Workers, and served as President for 10 years. His office terminated when he retired. He was elected committeeman for the Lincoln County ASCS and served in that capacity for several years. He also served as president of the Lincoln County National Farmers Organization for several years. He became involved in working with Missouri Association for Social Welfare for Volunteers Against Hunger. He received an award of recognition from that organization for his volunteer help.

With all his activities, Mr. IVES' family came first. He was very devoted to his family, and they all enjoyed a very close relationship. He was a good neighbor and was always ready to help when needed.

Mr. IVES' illness extended over several months. During that time, he had the best of care. Mr. IVES' absence from the family circle is deeply felt. However the many wonderful years his family and friends shared with him will hold memories of comfort for them.

Funeral services were conducted from the Kemper Marsh Funeral Home in Troy. The Rev. John Porter, assisted by Rev. Elven Curtis, conducted the services. Lester Schloeman was the soloist.

Burial was in the Sulphur Lick Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jimmie Tucker, Arthur Lee Gibert, Kent Gilbert, J.B.Langenecker, Larry Langenecker and Monte Gilbert. Honorary pall bearers were John and Arthur Gilbert, Dene Langenecker, John Anyan, Richard Kinion, Dennis Patterson, Alex Hegedus, Ruby Howdeshell and Leonard O'Hanlon.
