Obituary for Victor L. Irvin
(1915-1979)Victor Lamont IRVIN, 63, Troy, died June 24, 1979 at the Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. July 26 from Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, officiated by a nephew, Rev. Richard TURNBULL. Interment was in the Elsberry City Cemetery.
He was born July 11, 1915 in rural Winfield to Don E. and Lycina WALCOTT IRVIN. He was married July 10, 1937 in Bowling Green to Laura Frances MAUPIN who survives.
Other survivors include their children: Mrs. Harold (Mary) WILHOIT, Mrs. Fred (Vicki) ROBBINS and Mrs. Clarence (Shirley) ROBBINS, all of Louisiana, Orval Eugene IRVIN, Charles, Ann WRIGHT, Gary IRVIN, Mrs. Stan (Carol) GERDIMAN, Victor Lamont IRVIN and Thelma WRIGHT, all of Troy; 16 grandchildren; step-mother, Velma IRVIN of Foley; brother, Sam IRVIN ; two sisters: Mrs. CANNON, Winfield and Charles (Hazel) LILLEY and other relatives.
Mr. IRVIN was a member of the Elsberry American Legion Post # 226; Ironworkers Union # 396, St. Louis and was a retired iron worker. He worked for Mosler Safe Co. as an installer of vault door banks.
