WILEY P HUSTON FATALLY INJURED IN CAR CRASH

Former Trojan Succumbs to Concusion of the Brain at St Charles Hospital Wiley P. HUSTON, of St Charles, well known in Troy and throughout Lincoln County, was fatally injured in an automobile accident on Highway 61, near Wentzville, Saturday morning of last week.

Mr Huston, who was the most seriously injured of the six persons in the three cars involved in the accident, suffered a concussion of the brain and was taken immediately to St Joseph's Hospital, in St Charles. He did not regain consciousness before his death which occured Wednesday morning about 11:00 o'clock. He was 72 years old.

Mr HUSTON, a Democratic Committeeman of St Charles County, was riding in a car driven by Jack Busc, Democratic candidate for Coroner of St Charles county, and they were accompanied by Mrs Margaret SWIFT, aged 63 of St. Louis county. This car was traveling north on Highway 61, when a car owned by Maj. Lloyd C. STARK, of Louisiana, Democratic candidate for governor, driven and occupied alone by J.D. MURPHY, also of Louisiana, rounded a curve and, crowding over the black center line of the pavement met the BUSE car in a head-on collision. Just behind the Buse car was Oliver SHANNON and mother in law, Mrs Lydia GALLAGHER, 65, and their car crashed into the rear of the Buse car after the first collision. Mrs SWIFT, the other occupant of the Buse car, received fractures of the left leg and hip and was taken to St Joseph's Hospital, while the oher four in the accident were given treatment for minor injuries by a Wentzville physician.

Wiley P HUSTON was born and reared in the Troy vicinity and made his home here until about twenty years ago. Few men ever had more friends in Troy or throughout the entired county than he. His was a warm enthusiastic, friendly nature which made friends wherever he went and his sincerity kept them always friends. He was an ardent Democrat and was active in Democratic circles throughout Missouri. On March 25, 1901, he took the otath of office as sheriff of Lincoln county under Hon. E.M. HUGHES, and made a fine record in that office. From 1911 to 1915 he served Lincoln county as Representative in the General Assembly of Missouri. Since that time he has served in various political capacities and at the time of his death was Democratic Committeeman of St Charles county, where he had resided since leaving Troy. Besides his wife, who was Miss Sarah ALLEN of Troy, Mr Huston is survived by one son, Grover C. Huston of the law firm of WILLIAMS and Huston of Troy and the latter's wife Mary MOORE Huston, and son G. C. Jr. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. S.E. EWING of St Louis, assisted by Rev. O.A. GORDON of Troy, at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Baptist Church in Troy and burial will be in the city cemetery here.
