Obituary for Rosa D. Holland (1863-1896)
Uncited clippings from the "Mattie Davis Martin Collection" of Doris Martin
Jablonski, 1998.
DIED -- At her home near Linns Mill, June 2, 1896. Mrs. Rosa D. HOLLAND, aged 33 years, 3 months and 17 days.
Deceased had been a sufferer for three years. Consumption, with its destroying effects, laid hold upon her vitals and with unrelenting grasp clung to the mortal frame until the wasted form could no longer resist its power. Despite the efforts of medical skill both here and in St. Louis, where she went for treatment; despite the kind attentions of loved ones; despite the earnest wishes and prayers of devoted friends, on Tuesday morning her life went out. A kind husband, a loving daughter, an aged mother and many friends deplore her death.
About three years ago the writer baptized her into Christ and saw her rise to walk in
newness of life, since which time she has adorned the gospel of Christ by a Godly walk and
conversation. "and though dead she yet liveth" and.the power of her Christian
life will continue unto eternity itself. Funeral services were conducted at the home,
after which the remains were conveyed to Warrenton for interment. -- R. L. MORTON
